Finding Dory Reviews
Finding Dory was not a great movie. and I think this one was WORSE than the first one, "Finding Nemo". the main complaint I have with this movie is that it plays out the exact SAME as the first one. don't get me wrong, there are some enjoyable moments in this movie and the finale was actually really good. and the animation was stunning! the characters were surprisingly not bad. but other than that, this is still a film that DIDN'T need to EXIST at all in my OPINION. overall, if you loved the first one, it's likely that you will have a blast with this movie, for me, 6.5/10.
Not as good as the first one, but still good. I did love her backstory though.
Not as good as the original - but still quite watchable.
Great sequel to an amazing film. This film was very touching, all with a great blend of fun and animation that is great for kids and kids at heart. I don't like Ellen DeGeneres though.
I forgot everything that I watched here after conclusion.
Stunning visuals and an interesting back story still don't make a great movie. It's all a bit too manic/zany at the end...
The original is better
Awful prequel just watch the original...🙄
"Finding Dory" has a lot to live up to. "Finding Nemo" was a huge hit both financially and critically. It was the number one selling DVD of all time and was nominated 4 Oscars. After 13 years of anticipation "Finding Dory" didn't make much of a splash. It did fine at the box office, but went without an Oscar nomination, a rarity given the usual caliber of Pixar films. So, the overall reception was sub-par compared to its predecessor. The question remains, how's the movie? It's sub-par by Pixar standards but in general it's OK. I will be comparing this film to "Finding Nemo" quite a bit to help demonstrate my problems with this film. In "Finding Nemo" the main focus is divided into two main stories: Nemo's adventure and Marlin's adventure. Both adventures are entertaining and move the story forward. In this film, they likewise break up the team into two separate groups. But this time, one group seems to make no tangible progress, making every time they cut to their story feel like filler. The original film got nominated for best original screenplay partly because of how tightly written it was, no scene seemed unnecessary and no line of dialogue felt wasted. This film feels like it is trying its best to stretch its runtime. Where the first film gives the audience a variety of settings throughout the depths of the ocean, this movie mainly takes place all in one location. It takes place in real life location: "California's Marine Life Institute", they spend enough time there it feels like a big budget commercial for the place. In the first film, Dory's "short term memory loss" was written off more for laughs than anything else. This film treads in dangerous waters reframing that gimmick as a legitimate mental disability. The movie tackles a lot of themes surrounding mental health. There are some people who could find this offensive, but I feel that the film's heart is in the right place. Sadly, the movie feels forgettable. It follows a lot of the same sequel beats that a Dreamworks sequel would hit. We have a main character, now let's reunite them with their estranged parents. It worked in "Shrek 2", "How to Train your Dragon 2", "Madagascar 2" and "Kung Fu Panda 3" why not this film? It's finale also just feels like cheating. Where the first film set up all its final beats seamlessly, this one feels contrived. But I will say that the kids I watched it with absolutely loved it. They laughed a lot throughout the movie. And I will give credit to when it hits its emotional climax, it does really work, it is a very sweet scene. Perhaps I am comparing it too much to a film it will never live up to. It has its faults, but its emotional finale makes it worth a watch. If you are watching and not enjoying it, just keep watching, just keep watching watching watching. There is some joy to be found.
My 2nd favorite pixar movie
This Movie Is Worse Than I Remember Veary Boring And Flat The Characters Were So So But the character I Did not like was Hank Hank Cares for Nothing But taking Dorys Tag And Being Alone I know that something really bad happens to him But there’s Preatty much Nothing else About Him Nothing. Sorry I Forgot I Also Hated Destiny She was so Mean To The innocent Orca And Kept Taunting him about his Brain Damage Not Gonna Lie Destiney And Bailey Had the most toxic Relationship .
Definitely not a bad sequel, it's not spectacular by any means though.
Decent sequel to an animated masterpiece. Finding Dory isn't bad, buy it pales in comparison to the original and to a lot of the other Pixar films. Mediocre.
It went in knowing what it wanted to do, I feel as if it flew too close to the sun with this but in the end an alright movie was made.
Finding Dory gets better during the time, but isn't better as the first movie
Il film non ha la stessa magia e unicità del primo film
This is the one of the only sequel I think that lives up to the original.
Everything that happened with Dory in this movie made you feel for her as a character quite a bit. It was for sure an emotional journey to watch and follow throughout the whole film. The voice actors did well too, and more notably, the not so subtle presence of Sigourney Weaver in the film portraying her very own voice. The negatives of the film are mainly that I felt a bit more connected to the original, and the first one felt more urgent and dangerous/threatening the whole time, primarily in a more creepy and mature way even. Back then, kids movies took a larger risk with its audience and I like that as an adult looking back. The first one came across as a more creative story than this installment and very outlandish and downright ridiculous things happened that came across as unbelievable even for a kid's Pixar movie (especially toward the very end). Overall it's not the best sequel but at the same time, not that bad.
Ellen can’t keep me interested, shawty needa stick to being mean to her employees
