Finding Steve McQueen Reviews
In the 70's, a dedicated Steve McQueen fan, Harry (Travis Fimmel) takes part in the robbery of a bank in which millions of dollars of illegal contributions to Nixon's campaign have been deposited... Potentially suspenseful heist movie is interspersed with flashbacks and an upside-down love story that fits awkwardly into the rest of the film. Inspirations such as "Bonnie and Clyde" are more than obvious, especially in the visual part, but the movie leaves a lukewarm impression overall. Although, Travis Fimmel is solid as a character who is probably 180 degrees away from his character in "Vikings".
I knew the story of the dishwasher bank robbers before watching this movie, but not the intimate details. I was cracking up all through out the flick at these guys. If you hate constant cursing: my wife, don't watch. It was good through and through: from acting to script. I cannot believe how many Aussie's are in the movies for such a small pop but as my wife says (she is an Aussie) they take the arts serious down under..
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film and could have watched it again, straight away. Great performances with a true, interesting story-line and for me it's iconic.
Non ho apprezzato questa costante commedia ironica anche laddove non ce n'era il bisogno. La storia è interessante e poco nota, eppure non viene raccontata al massimo, proprio per lasciare spazio alle bizzarrie dei protagonisti.
This little gem of a movie tells a fascinating true micro-story forever buried in the background of very big, consequential events. The movie is a sweet, tender look at the people involved and also is a great portrayal of America is the 70's and 80's. The acting is impressive. The pacing of the film and its brevity stand out in an era of bloated superhero sequels filled with endless special effects. Well done !
It is neither good nor bad. A story told many times before. No real twists or turns. Acting is fine. The storytelling mechanism is by flashback and tying in some nods to some famous old movies [kind of fun approach]. The part I enjoyed the most is the soundtrack... great use of some well known but little used songs.
I really enjoyed this movie inspired by true events. It's funny with quirky and rich characters, and filled with colorful 70's nostalgia and music. Top notch performances by Travis Fimmel, Rachael Taylor, Forest Whitaker, William Fichtner, and Lily Rabe. Can easily recommend.
I thought the movie was prettygood, especially the final scene-Maybe because I was the extra playing the FBI agent with the shotgun in it,lol.
Unfortunately it was not close to Baby Driver. Not bad though.
Funny funny funny. It’s a great heist movie that’s as fun as it is insane. A great movie not to be missed!!
