Fisherman's Friends Reviews
A feel-good movie from beginning to end. Really heart warming. A great cast with a bunch of hilarious characters that exude true friendship in a caring community against the snobbery of the manipulative music industry.
Heartwarming and and an enjoyable change from car chases, super heroes and badly written rom-coms.
I was looking forward to a true-to-life story of how the fishermen had the success they achieved. Instead I got a brain-dead script with cringe-worthy storylines which to me would have been dated thirty years ago. Honestly, there is a lot of cheese. Having said that, it was watchable and I enjoyed the music, but really.. get with the times script writers.
The scenery and affable characters don't compensate for the paint by numbers, boilerplate script. The sea scenes were obviously studio filmed given the lack of wind that must be ever present in that locale. Interesting that the filme appeared to have been shot in the same village as Martin Clunes. His dour assessment would have been welcome
A funny British comedy with heart. Based on a true story of fisherman who became well known singers.
A rare gem in the 21st century i.e. a simple, feelgood tale (based on a true story) with no wokery, no political propaganda or OTT cgi.
loved this movie-great family movie but minus 1 star for bad acting from all 3 of the guys who worked with the 'good guy' especially his boss
Finally, a film that fully engages on several levels. Bona fide humor, pathos, character development; all wrapped up with rousing music set in a fantastic seaside village in Cornwall. Worth your time.
While predictable and cheesy at times, the solid cast, feel good themes and enjoyable music makes it a recommendable film.
Very enjoyable and great vocals.
Lovely film. A bit cheesy but great music and came away with a smile on my face
Solid movie . Felt like the drama towards the end was a little manufactured but outside that enjoyable all the way thru 3.3
Based on real events (as they say), but the fiction adds a cliched romance sub-story, a range of unbelievable characters and takes a long time to get where it's going. There are notes of Local Hero, The Full Monty, Jerry Maguire, but this story is nowhere near as satisfying as any of those.
This is a nice light watch - its a good example of a feel-good film, based on a true story and set on the Cornish coast of southern England. Its got a good cast and I enjoyed it in terms of the plot - the folk songs (sea shanties) were fun to hear as well but the plot is pretty predictable (even though its based on a true story, so I suppose its esp. so if you know the story) and its not an entirely memorable film either I'd say. Overall I would recommend it as an easy and feel good/lighthearted film.
A positive drama (based on a true story). Good screenwriting, acting & dialogue. A pleasure to watch, great setting. Entertaining, interesting. Not a childish "feel-good" movie.
Such a wonderful feel-good movie telling a very interesting real life story, So, it is not the fantasy world where everyone lives in a $500,000 house category, and not the equally fantastical religious sort. It is a down to earth actual real life people kinda story that all of us who grew up in a small town can relate to, no matter what country that small town was in. I liked it...a lot.
This is one of those films that will take you away from your everyday life, and plop you down in a gorgeous little Cornwall fishing village. The great value in a film such as this is its ability to remove you from your living room for a couple of hours and let you forget your troubles.
