Flamin' Hot Reviews

Apr 8, 2025

“Flamin’ Hot” tells the supposed true story of Richard Montañez, who claimed to invent Flaming Hot Cheetos while working as a janitor at a Frito-Lay factory in the 1980s. Despite Richard Montañez’s claims to being the one who invented Flaming Hot Cheetos being disputed, “Flamin’ Hot” is nevertheless still a highly entertaining, funny, and inspiring family-friendly movie. I thought the performances were excellent, especially from Jesse Garcia and Dennis Haysbert. It provides a great exploration into the importance of culture and heritage, and an uplifting, feel-good underdog story about pursuing your goals and dreams with passion, enthusiasm, and perseverance; and not giving up, even when others don’t take you seriously. There’s the right amount of comedy to keep kids entertained, as well as moments filled with emotion. Whether or not this film actually tells the truth, it’s still a great movie I recommend watching for a fun family movie night. Based on: “A Boy, a Burrito and a Cookie: From Janitor to Executive,” by Richard Montañez

Flamin' Hot is an incredibly inspiring film that every young person should watch! It beautifully tells the story of how a man with passion, perseverance, and the right support system—especially from his wife—can create something groundbreaking. This movie proves that success isn’t just about degrees; it’s about hard work, vision, and resilience. Watching Richard Montañez fight not just for his dream but also for his family and coworkers, ultimately saving jobs and transforming the company, is truly uplifting. It’s a must-watch for anyone chasing their dreams, no matter where they start. #FlaminHot #InspiringStory #HardWorkPaysOff #DreamBig #NoDegreeRequired #SuccessStory #NeverGiveUp #Motivation #FamilySupport #EntrepreneurMindset #MustWatch #MovieReview #RottenTomatoes

Researching the truth on the movie the hot Cheetos was not invented that way it was portrayed. Lay’s laid off employees in 2012 and have several strikes through the years. Obviously the writer disliked R Reagan. Maybe to try and make it more dramatic that he saved the company from ruin by his flavor invention? Just was not as good as it could have been. Actors were good but the story fell flat for me.

I was surprised not to hear more hype about this movie. I think that’s the reason it took me so long to watch. My dad had a hard time trying not to laugh because he just had surgery on his stomach. My mom cried multiple times. This movie really resonates with Latinos. It’s inspiring to see someone from my culture, who grew up around my area, even mentioning my hometown, climb up from the bottom of a company. I watched it at the right time in my life too, which made it more emotional. The acting was fantastic and the soundtrack was perfect. This will forever be a movie I recommend to friends and family.

I'm on a journey to watch all of the 2024 Oscar nominations, and next up on my list was Flamin' Hot, a biopic about the man who invented Flamin' Hot Cheetos... Or at least says he did, as there is no real life evidence that he actually did create the famous snack, which makes this film not really a biopic but more of a fiction story that Richard Montañez (The main character) told everyone was true, which was enough for Searchlight Pictures to make a movie about him. For those reasons I had to lower it by a half star, as if it was a true story it would likely be a 2 1/2 star film. Flamin' Hot is a feel-good film that can be funny at times, but for the most part is just a boring film that feels like it goes on forever. This film is only 99 minutes long, but it felt like at least 130 minutes long because it was so slow and boring, and for the most part, wasn't very compelling. Overall, the movie is fine, and I bet there would be a lot of people out there that find it funny and engaging, but for me, it really didn't work.

#MovieReview #Hulu #FlaminHot After delaying watching it for some time, I finally decided to give "Flamin Hot" a chance, especially upon learning that it was based on a true story. The film follows a Mexican man without a college or high school diploma, relying on street smarts and involvement in gangs and drug dealing. It delves into the creation of Flamin' Hot Cheetos, Flamin' Hot Popcorn, and Flamin' Hot Doritos. Despite minimal character development beyond the protagonist and Clarence, the storytelling sheds light on the struggles faced by the man due to his Mexican heritage. It's a light-hearted, comedic autobiography that manages to keep you engaged. While the supporting characters lack depth, they fulfill their roles adequately. Overall, I found it to be an intriguing watch, offering insights into the history of Flamin' Hot Cheetos. It's definitely worth checking out for a unique and educational viewing experience.

Not the worst of this genre, but not particularly good either.

Watched it, but if I didn't, nothing happens. Just for the checklist of all Oscar nominated flicks, even though this is for original song, which I don't know how it got that nom... really? A lot of better movie songs than that, but ok

Fake true story or not, Flamin' Hot works as an engaging rags to riches story and serves as a solid feature directorial debut for Eva Longoria.

I really liked this movie, not only was it educational, but it was also highly enjoyable. It was cool to see a brown story told from a brown perspective and brown actors. This film will remind you to believe in your dreams no matter how small they seem. Good one for the kids as well.
