From Russia With Love Reviews
amazing! very underrated one!
Great pacing also this kind of camera quality in the early 60s are Insane
The second Bond movie is easily one of the best movies in the franchise. This is the perfect 60s espionage spy thriller that paced spectacularly
Love this so much, a step up from Dr No in terms of action and structure. The story is simple but perfectly paced and very clever locations including the fight on the train. Sean Connery at his best and also Bond at his best, a few little gadgets but not cheesy and more serious in tone.
Must see film for all bond fans and perhaps Connerys best film
From Russia With Love is just spectacular even though the cracks start to show as I have seen it far too many times as I love the scenery, action and script as its very slick.
It is my favorite movie ever red grant is iconic and Connery is doing his best fun action must see
Not as spectacular as some bond films but perhaps all the better for it. This entry had a very grounded feel. The story, whilst chasing the usual mcguffin, was fairly well thought out. Action scenes were realistic and the green screen wasn't too bad. Connery is quite convincing in his role and is well supported by the rest of the cast. I watched "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" the day before & I could really notice the step up in terms of acting and editing etc.
From Russia with Love is an improvement on the first film. The story has more meat to it, the characters have more depth (especially the antagonists) and the action improves (slightly). There are some problematic elements, especially regarding James' treatment of women (the way he talks to Tania, hits her, etc.). The omnipresent villain (Grant) is intriguing and helps the plot move along with purpose. Unfortunately, James Bond's mystique is undermined often in this movie. There are times when he feels more like a fool than a legend. While I enjoy films where the audience knows more than the character, James Bond should not be one of those characters. Some moments are underdeveloped, but I enjoyed the scenes in Istanbul, especially with Kerim Bey. Ultimately, I enjoyed it more than Dr. No, but just barely. Best Character: Grant Best Quote: "Russian clocks are always..." Best Scene: M and crew listening to the recording of Bond and Tania Best Piece of Score: From Russia With Love
A must watch for any Bond fan. Ond of the very best.
Defenedly the best Bond movie ever.
One of my favourite Bond films top 5, yes. 9.4/10.
Dull Boring Story Saved By Some Cool Action Sequences But I've Come to Realise That James Bond Is A Horrible Person
I think this was my favorite Sean Connery Bond film. It had plenty of action with decent acting and a few good ones liners. It's definitely worth the watch.
Despite having a slow start, From Russia with love presents an impressive plot, locations, action, bond girl and villain.
Second best Bond movie after Goldfinger. Good acting. Believable plot. Beautiful Bond girl. A must see.
A much more engaging outing for 007 than his first, From Russia with Love has much more character, energy, and even something resembling a conventional plot; although it all unfolds in a profoundly routine Cold War thriller, with a narrative that plods along at a slow pace in desperate need of some tightening up, but its extended set pieces of great action is still just as engaging as ever. Young's direction still isn't the best but Ted Moore's photography is still as sharp as ever, it helps that Connery is a little bit more comfortable in the role while the rest of the cast is populated by much more colourful characters including the always awesome Robert Shaw in the role of henchmen Red Grant. John Barry takes up composing duties for his first of many for the franchise, rarely delivering a bad score and his score here is no exception. While I still don't think Bond has quite hit his stride yet, the exotic and colourful flamboyance from the best of its successors is still missing, From Russia with Love remains plenty of fun and establishes an indomitable template for more adventures to come.
a classic bond film one of sean connerys best great fight scene kn train and cool bond girl and great acting and set pieces i highly recommend this film
Like most Bond films it has to be taken for what it is and the time it was filmed, but if you can do that, there's much to enjoy even over half a century later.
Likely the best agent adventure in the Bond series
