Not very sophisticated, but it is ok. Watch it without expecting too much. Enjoy!
This almost feels like a paperback crime story. Short and sweet with just the right dose of violence and drama. Nothing complicated and no unexpected twists. Just a fun little entertaining movie with an unfiltered look at the corrupt Mexican prison system that might remind you of the Turkish prison in Midnight Express but with lots of guns and bullets.
Original and engaging story line, great cast, well directed. A great action/drama film. I really liked it.
Very entertaining and insite.
If Sam Peckinpah was alive today, wait, what am i saying, Sam must be alive, who else could have made this. This film is raw and one adrenaline trip. Mel is right at home in this role, a role I don't think he would have took if he wasn't canceled. Gritty, mean, ambitious!
I was channel surfing and I caught this movie on a streaming service and I couldn't stop watching it… Gritty, tough and great action. It's has some great dark comedy moments and it's pretty rough "emotionally" toward the end. If you're fan of Gibson action films, this is a definite watch.
Very well done. No "woke" garbage shoehorned into the movie. Just the way a criminal comedy should be.
Mel Gibson is top tier in this. Hilarious, suspenseful, and very entertaining. Loved it!
Great Movie! Worth owning…
Mel Gibson is in fine form in this entertaining and, often hilarious, action thriller
Mel Gibson is a career criminal who after a car chase near the US/Mexican border is put in a Mexican prison community where he must use his wits and criminal know how to not only keep himself alive but also a young boy and his mother who are there as well. This was pretty good. Gibson conjures up his charming yet still a bit crazy persona that we were used to in his younger days and pulls this off quite well. Good action/crime flick.
Good flick. Good blend of humor, action, and drama. I enjoyed it.
Here's a bad trip to think about and avoid. Don't go to jail in Mexico, or any place you're foreign to for that matter.
This was a pretty entertaining movie even if it is a rewrite of Mel Gibson's 1999 movie payback. Aside from the environment it is exactly the same only slot more entertaining. Gibson's character is still the same career criminal that narrates his own story with the same dark comedic vibe that has to wind his way around numerous other criminal types to retrieve the money he stole. The more I think about it the more it appears to be a superior yet exact remake of what came before.
Say what you want about Mel Gibson; he makes some good movies. This is one of them. He plays a smart talking, tough as nails thief confined to one of Mexico's most brutal prison. The movie is filled with corrupt police, mafia hitmen, prison violence, and more. While it is a relatively low budget movie it is still very good. It is brutal and gritty. Gibson has the air of his Lethal Weapon days. The supporting cast, of mostly unknowns is very good. I like the way it is filmed-a bit like a Western. This one is violent and much of it is in Spanish and sub-titled. There are some scenes in this movie that are amazingly satisfying to watch in a sick, guilty pleasure way.
This was very fresh in my book. Love the setting being in a Lawless Mexican Prison! Anything goes and same goes for survival. Strange alliances towards a master of a movie.
What a funky little crime-action film. I did enjoy the heck out of it for the most part. My version didn’t have Spanish subtitles so it was hard to follow some of the dialogue. Otherwise, it is very stylized to fit Mel Gibson’s films and makes for a well narrated, violent prison film
