God & Country Reviews
Must watch. Disturbing times we are living in with these demented beliefs of the right.
This is a useful examination of the current state of the country and the threat that unbridled religion poses. Some criticize the film for not providing answers, that's a pretty big ask for a documentary. It's meant to spur action, not solve the problem, and it does that well.
This is “what happened” to America. A must watch.
I had high hopes for this documentary. I'm all for exposing the religious crazy that is poisoning civilization, but this was a real let down. It's just like a YouTube playlist on the subject. Nothing new. No journalistic investigation that reveals something we don't already know.
As someone who grew up in the Bible Belt, I can testify that this film absolutely captures the development and evolution of the Christian Nationalist movement. A painful to watch but none-the-less accurate, well presented, and succinct portrayal of a movement that is challenging the foundation of democracy in the United States.
As an individual who was raised as a conservative Catholic, is increasingly alarmed at the rise of Christian nationalism and Donald Trump, and the combined impacts on the United States as a constitutional republic, I found this documentary to be simultaneously insightful, informative, and alarming. Without spoiling too much of the plot, this documentary walks viewers through the history and rise of Christian nationalism in the United States going back several decades, puts everything in context, involves interviews with notable players in the evangelical and journalistic communities, and even includes a constitutional legal analysis of the First Amendment as it relates to religious freedom and the intent of the Founding Fathers, as well as the risks which Christian nationalism poses to American democracy. This documentary is absolutely worth watching if you are alarmed at all at the increasing dysfunction in the United States Congress (both House and Senate) and the actions of politicians such as Speaker Mike Johnson, considering his ardent belief in the Seven Mountain Mandate.
Very well done! Appreciate the people in the movie are all religious and constitution experts, most being conservative Christians, ensuring this is not an attack on Christianity, not just from a singular liberal view, but instead is a revealing picture of the political motives of Christian Nationalism over the last 50+ years. The bombshells and eye opening revelations are both frightening and empowering against the threat to democracy and Christianity as a whole!
There's an interesting documentary on this topic that could be made. This isn't it. This is just a partisan political ad that grew into a movie.
This documentary was done well. Scary as hell, though! I loved that the theatre was more than half full.
Very powerful but always balanced look at the origins and rise of Christian Nationalism in the US.
God & Country is a vitally important movie that every decent law abiding American should see. Although many of the videos and images are disturbing to watch the way to stop hatred and tyranny from continuing is to educate the public with irrefutable facts. This 90 minute movie is well worth your time and money,
