Godzilla 2000 Reviews
An American GI Joe Godzilla movie - it totally misses the point of Godzila - Dont bother watching this - watch some real Japanese Godzilla movies instead - this is bloody pitiful, awful, total GI Joe rubbish.
Great Godzilla design, great acton, great story. what more could I ask for
I was really disappointed with this film, I was expecting so much more so my review will be especially harsh. The film starts with a great opening that is tainted by the fact that there is literally no explanation for the existence of Godzilla. If this is a sequel then how did he come back to life after the last film? If this is a re-sequel then same question. If this is a reboot then what is Godzilla’s backstory, he just appears and everyone already knows about him. Frustrating. Godzilla’s design is awesome but like most Toho movies there is no sense of scale to him. The serious tone is fine. The ambitious effects though are pretty terrible. It looks much worse than all the films from the previous era. The effects are worse than any of The Asylum movies, worse than anything from the eighties. Some of the effects look cool but these are the traditional monster suits smashing cities. The UFO looks especially bad whenever it appears. It is a huge step down in quality compared to the flawed American movie Godzilla (1998). The film is actually quite boring, there is a lot of operatic standing around looking at nothing happening, without removing any content they could easily have taken 15 minutes of waiting out of the film. I was disappointed that we didn’t see the Millennium aliens. I didn’t like how easily Orga was defeated although Orga was a really cool kaiju. Overall very disappointing and not a good entry. Correction: you do see the alien briefly as it gets pooped out of the alien ship, it took Google to find that out.
But of a letdown if I’m being honest.
My first real Godzilla film in theaters
This movie is probably the most average Godzilla movie, everything about it is perfectly fine and average.
I did not like it… I loved it. It is just another one of my favorite movies, literally any movie (besides 1998 Goji) in the Gojira series. If you haven't seen Final Wars, watch it, then GvGigan, the GvMegalon. My only complaint is, ORGA TRIED TO EAT GOJIRA!!!!
fun to watch, BUT it is still pretty mid
Fun, cheesy, enjoyable. Nothing less and nothing more.
i have no idea why this movie has terrible scores. this was cinema. the villain was amazing, the godzilla design was amazing, the plot was amazing. stop the hate for this movie.
Los efectos son chafas la batalla final es muy mala la historia se entiende más o menos el diseño de Godzilla no es tan bueno
Fun action but cgi is bad
BEST. GODZILLA. MOVIE. EVER. I remember the first time watching this and it still holds up, the dubbed voice choices were great, and in some shots Godzilla looks menacing.
Don't let the poster fool this is not a sequel to the bad Godzilla lol. But Godzilla 2000 is the most fun monster action movie of all time.
A huge improvement over the 1998 American outing, far from Toho's best but a pretty damn good time. The fact that this is considered one of the weaker Godzilla movies is a testament to just how fun this franchise is overall.
Rating: 6/10. 64/100
Godzilla's design feels nastier and cooler this time. The atomic breath is magnificent. Seeing a lot of people say it's a fun movie after watching the English dub is weird since the original Japanese version seems to be trying to be so dark and grim even with the inherent silliness of a lot of plot points. This movie makes it look like Godzilla's appearance is a common thing but disregards the Heisei movies, so timeline-wise they could've made it make more sense. Even though the movie is trying to be cool, it felt kind of boring with this repeating of the same kind of stuff we've seen in all these movies. The American version, despite not being that great worked for me because it wasn't really a Godzilla movie and had an entirely different mood. This is back to the cliches with not much new to offer for any excitement. That final dialogue about Godzilla inside of us was funny even though they said it straight.
It's a Nice movie, including that roar! I recomand it to godzila fans
While it DOES have comic elements, it is an action-packed, well-written and more importantly, underrated.........gem. *PS.......watch it with Subs.
