Just watched this last night on a whim. Really solid movie, surprised it didn't do better with audiences. McConaughay was terrific. Better than most of the crap coming out today. I recommend it.

Good movie about the stock market and mining

Despite having a few flaws, and lacking that "thing" or depth that could catapult it truly memorable status, i still had fun watching it. I didn't know anything about the real life story or how accurate this movie is, but i'd say ignore the bad reviews and give it a try. If you like this type of movie, that is.

Despite flaws, I enjoyed watching this dramatization of a bunch of greedy jerks. Don't believe the ending, but the plot otherwise shows capitalists to be the idiotic bad guys they are.

Having watched gold hunters online many times, this movie portrays the feelings of all concerned in that roller coaster of a life style, to perfection. Based on a true story, there are enough twists and turns to keep you glued to the screen to the very end. On DVD the deleted scenes are listed - wish they had left them in. Good script, sharp editing, great acting, terrific story. Thank you one and all.

Beautiful depiction of a true story. Gripping till the end. Just because it takes a dig at Zs of New York, biased critics are throwing a hissy fit. Good movie.

It's worth watching if you like Matthew and you have adventure for Gold.

I thought it was an excellent movie. I am shocked that it has such a low rating. My friend and I loved it!

So this movie deserves a watch and significantly better ratings than it has received. Ron Howard's daughter Bryce gives a wonderful performance opposite Matthew Mcconnaughey in a take off based on the all too true story of a tiny company that cooked up their stock price on the false promise of the biggest gold strike in modern history. There's nothing really wrong with this flick unless you want to nit pick about it being perhaps a bit disjointed, and maybe a tad slow at times. Mcconnaughey has made precious few stinkers in his career and this is certainly not one of them. Ignore the reviews and give it a twirl.

I'm losing all my faith in movie critics, this movie was panned and although not earth-shaking , I thought it was still very good. McConaughey was especially good as usual

Don't listen to the critics, this is a solid movie and very engaging. Speaks volumes about certain aspects of human nature and MM was excellent.

Matthew McConaughey carries this movie to make it interesting about the highs & lows of mining for Gold in the jungle of poor countries and making it profitable on Wall Street. I thought it was a good overall story that leaves you hanging in the end wondering if there will be more

An excellent performance from Matthew McConaughey, but that's about it. It's the poor mans version of The Wolf of Wall Street, with forgettable characters and a bland, confusing plot. The pacing was off and things were repetitive due to half of the scenes being about getting drunk. Furthermore, basically none of the characters were likeable, which is never good. However, the acting and cinematography were reasonable. By contrast, the soundtrack was over the top considering how little was actually happening on screen. Such a shame considering this sounds like an interesting true story.

Simply amazed how the other critics did not like this movie, it was a true masterpiece in my eyes. This really proves the top critics have no clue about what they're talking about

Gold just seems like a wannabe Wolf Of Wall Street. The Wolf Of Wall Street was bad enough.

I can't believe this is a true story. I found it to be fascinating actually. At one point I didn't even know what was happening anymore because it was such a twist. The storyline was great, although sometimes a bit slow. All the actors were amazing but I guess I had higher hopes for this movie knowing which actors were in it. The movie itself just missed something. Matthew McConaughey and Edgar Ramirez were amazing. Matthew McConaughey looked so different in this film, totally getting into his character. I love that. I recommend you to watch Gold, but do not expect the greatest movie ever.

Matthew McConaughey is one of the best actors in Hollywood, and in this film he does not disappoint. The story about a mediocre man who earns a lot of fast money, and gets caught up in the ruthless world of big business is similar to the one in The Wolf of Wall Street. It shows that they wanted to take advantage of the popularity of this movie and do something similar
