Gold Reviews
Unbelievably stupid plot hole. 2 men find gold buried in middle in the desert which has been there forever. Instead of both going to get the excavator Zak stays behind not only facing certain death but also brings attention to the exact spot the gold is buried. Wow.
Harrowing but gripping. Zac Efron's performance was incredibly strong. Worth a watch but definitely when you feel up to a slower movie.
DNF at 15 minutes. Too slow and monotone
Special Effects: 1,0/Sound Effects: 1,0/Acting: 1,0/Story: 1,5
Quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever wasted an hour and a half of my life on. SAVE YOUR TIME… Skip over this one.
Not what I expected. It wasn't fast paced but I wasn't bored. 4*
Watching Gold left me feeling utterly bored. Despite Zac Efron showing immense potential to become an Oscar-winning actor based on his recent work, this particular film fell flat. The movie was bland, lacking engaging dialogue and when there was dialogue, it felt disjointed and confusing. The cinematography and lighting were poorly executed, with colors not blending well at all. It's unclear who was responsible for this aspect of the film, but they certainly missed the mark. The script seemed uninspired, as if it had been hastily thrown together without much thought. It's as if the ideas were better left in someone's head rather than put on paper, resulting in a lackluster storyline. It appears Efron may have taken on this project with hopes of it being an Oscar contender or a vehicle to elevate his career, but it ultimately fell short. I wouldn't recommend investing your time in this film. As a spoiler, the movie ends with Efron's character passing away suddenly, adding to the disappointment of the overall viewing experience.
Movie would be a lot better if the protagonist wasn't almost impossible to like...reason being he just messed up all the time by doing completely air headed things. Not that he was made to be some kind of survival expert but like dude has no common sense and is trying to survive reactively instead of proactively. Zac Efron is a pretty good actor but man did they make his character in this movie an idiot.
Enjoyed it. Kept you thinking. Always pleased when a primary actor also wrote and directed it!!
Movie was unique and the setting never changed, I think that the ending could have been better but I think that what the writers did was still good.
One of the most stressful movies I've seen, but mesmerizing.
Excellent movie! Easily the most realistic story of making a gold discovery with a really neat sci-fi twist. This should be at the top of everyone's watchlist. I don't think I could do any better if I were to find the worlds largest gold nugget! Top quality Everything!
Most boring film I saw lately. Unwatchable.
What a waste of time.
Love Australian movie sets, and liked the premise of the film. However characters were unconvincing, movie is slow without the burn, too long overall, and the 'twists' were not enough to carry it. Setting was not used to full advantage either. Film looked to be shot in winter, so no 'feel' of heat and dry. Efron's depiction of dehydration wasn't convincing either, speaking as someone who spent 15 years living in arid desert environment.
Absolutely horrid. Don't waste your time on this.
If I could give negative stars, this would be the one.
10 minutes into this movie I was looking at the clock to see how much longer until it was over. I found humor in the Belgian Malinois dressed up to look like wolfs and the ending was a shock but NOT worth the 1-1/2 of my life I spent on this.
The worst movie I've ever seen. Waste of time! This movie has no story line no beginning and no ending.
This movie was really boring and painful to watch. Just a brutal movie with a sad ending. I did not enjoy this at all. Good acting is the only thing that made it watchable.
