Goodbye Christopher Robin Reviews

Kind of sad story behind the beloved characters... I didn't knew it

Feb 27, 2024

A really good movie, at first, the photografy and the music are a totally acuarate complemet to every single scene. The story is treated in a very sad perspective, and several awfull events, such as; the consecuence of the war, the difficulties at the childhood, the failed attemp of the father. Are seen in a so coherent and interesting way, in fact, maybe the only mistake of the movie, is close the plot so fast, and let it a bit unclear at the begining, because the main idea is awesome. Finally, I've to say that the acting of all the characters, (speccialy Margot Robbie and the kid), gives you a suitable touch that add a lot to this fantastic story.

This was such a good story but it was so sad. Poor Christopher he hated being famous and I did not realize that Winnie The Pooh brought the family togeather and tore them apart this was a sad story

There is probably a decent movie in there, but too often this comes across as nothing more than a big budget tele-movie.

Bitter-sweet, with lovely scenery and a bit of conventionality, this was a pleasant, though not exceptional, manner of learning about the making of Winnie the Pooh.

It made me very emotional.

It was a rather boring drama of upbringing of a boy lack of affection. I only watched it because I'm a big fan of Piglet. I enjoyed the rather witty dialogs though.

very true as to how fame is a two edged sword. school taught him this from the bullying that went on. his determination to join the services illustrate how he wished to get rid of his 'fame' and become a normal, ordinary boy/young man. his great love for his nanny is a indication of his desire for normal behaviour, she was so sensible and down to earth. Very moving on several levels, very good

A real story, represented enhancing the emotions of the characters. The protagonist underlines the trauma and the bad impact that the war causes on people's life

Leaves a pleasant taste in your mouth with its ending, but struggles tremendously to find its footing at any other point. That's not to say it doesn't ever steady itself out, but it does so only sporadically, always looking to jar the audience with its inconsistent emotionality and uneven approach to who the hell the main character is supposed to be. There's also an eyebrow-raising amount of enmity levied at the "Daphne Milne" character, some of which seems almost conspicuously biased and impossible to pin down in a historical context, ultimately leading to a general sense of doubt in this being as true as the filmmakers let on. Domhnall Gleeson is a champ and Margot Robbie is as game as usual, but I just couldn't get as invested in this as anyone involved wanted me to.

I thought it was a wonderful glimpse into the lives of this family and how Christopher Robin & Winnie the Pooh was created. It was also however sad to see some of the tragedies and heartbreak that happened to this family and billy's childhood.

I was going to give this star 1 or a 1/2 star but went with 1 1/2 stars. Based on the true story of Winnie the Pooh, I am a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh good actors tried to go with the true story kinda slow, lots of small talk. Kinda boring the child was alright I felt bad for him the nanny was nice, but the parents were unfit, I probably won't want to watch it again I have never read Winnie the Pooh. I plan to watch Christopher Robin the other one hopefully it is better then this one, not the biggest fan of this movie even though there was really deep words shared at times idk about this one.

A must see for any Winnie the Pooh fan.

Seriously terrible film. Was all over the play and fit way too much into the first 30 minutes. I was so confused that I never made it to the Winnie the Pooh connection.

Loved this movie, cinematography, acting and script!

"Goodbye Christopher Robin" gives audiences a deeper, more inclusive peek behind the curtain of A. A. Milne's complicated relationship with his son, but it gets twisted between explaining the power of make-believe, losing your childhood innocence, and the physical and mental scars of PTSD. In the end of this PG biopic, we're led to believe that the success of Winnie the Pooh caused the real Christopher Robin a lot of pain and we're to blame.

A very interesting tale of A.A.Milne the creator of Winnie the Pooh. After a very slow opening act the film finally picks up the pace pulling on the emotional strings and telling relationship between father and son. Young Christopher Robin steals the show with his performance.

This is not an accurate depiction of Christopher Milne's childhood. The movie takes bits and pieces of his autobiography "The Enchanted Places" but grossly distorts the characters. If you read the book, you will be disappointed by the movie-makers depiction of the mother and father. They were much better parents and Christopher's childhood was not the borderline child abuse that is shown in the movie. One interesting and significant departure is the fact that the imaginary world of Winnie the Pooh and the hundred acre woods was created by Christopher and his mother. The mother then conveyed the stories to the father as he wrote the books. Also, although the father was in WW1 and it is safe to assume that it was an awful experience, there is no mention by Christopher Milne of any of the PTSD incidents that are a major part of the movie. Christopher Milne does say that he grew to dislike Christopher Robin during his boarding school years because of bullying. However, he says that he doesn't think his father ever knew anything about it and he loved it as a child. Anyway, people are free to read the book for themselves. I just wanted to post this because there were so many reviews where people were troubled by the movie as if it was a true story.
