Green Room Reviews
1 star to not give 0 . Half star because i feel bad for the actors that had to play on this.
Such a great film, cast, and script
Intense, claustrophobic, and well defined psychological thriller
Absolute perfection in cast, directing, and writing
No idea how it all came about. Far too much gore. Couldn't understand a lot of the dialogue between the skinheads. Don't waste your time.
This was so good, acting was amazing, plot was fantastic. I have nothing bad to say about it 👍👍👍
Always loved this movie but major major drawbacks are the unintelligible language between the skinheads, can’t understand a single sentence when they talk to each other and the strange whispering between each other half the time
It was a little too dark. Literally. There were only 2 cool kills. 2.5*
I really am very unsure why this movie scored such a high rating. The good things about it were the tension; the gruesome kills; action and the outline of the story. It had a good premise. However, I dislike a movie that have protagonists that have been written to be incredibly foolish and make abysmal decisions. I love Anton Yelchin's work (RIP Anton) such as Star Trek: into Darkness and Odd Thomas. However, he was unrecognisable in the film as a mumbling stoner punk rocker. He makes one bad decision after another that lead to distastrous consequences. His friends were not that likeable so I didn't care if they all passed or not. The cinematography was strong and the stakes were always high. Patrick Stewart got very little to do in this and as the villain was not even allowed to deliver a sinister monologue or statement. In horror movies you need to be able to root for the survivors. If you dislike them, then it's wasted hour and a half. I don't understand the high rating.
hard to watch. real.
A tight little thrill-ride with genuine moments of terror and deep discomfort for anyone who dares to watch
Delivering threat and violence in a world of fascism and punkcore without any characters explicitly speaking about the right-wing philosophy is something special. Having the visceral reminders of such a world shown in set design, staging, costume design, and real-life paraphernalia is inspired. All these details allow for the film’s swift and hideous violence to play out with the actors focused on delivering the full pain and panic any normal person would experience, and not be weighed down by politics. This is masterfully countered by the steely calm of Darcy (PS), who’s persona adds an icy severity and clinical ruthlessness to the antagonists’ agenda of safeguarding their illegal drugs operation by ensuring there are no witnesses. It’s a slasher-horror crime thriller with recognisably human characters in a very realistic setting, and it works brilliantly!
This is a fun and new stand off movie. Not sure how I feel about Patrick Stewart being the villain.
One of my favorite films of the last decade. It works to endear you to the main set of characters in a way that what ends up happening hits even harder. Great performances across the board, especially from Anton Yelchin (RIP), Imogen Poots, & the great Patrick Stewart, who plays the villian to perfection. Strongly recommend this film, but beware...it's a tough one.
Was not a fan of Blue Ruin. Green Room on the other hand was an excellent film. A thrill ride that makes use of it's single location incredibly well.
The concept is so pulpy and over the top. Somehow the realism shines through.
A near perfect film with expertly crafted suspense sequences and not an ounce of fat on it. A lean, mean thriller with excellent performances all around. We need more moview like this.
Genuinely one of the most intense thrillers I've ever seen, and some of the best filmmaking of the 21st century. Saulnier sets a bar for creating suspense, gets some fantastic performances out of a great cast and crafts an intelligent screenplay that doesn't patronize it's audience. While it may be too graphic and nihilistic for random moviegoers, this film stands out as one of the most riveting cinematic experiences of the last 20 years, if not ever. A true tour de force.
I first watched this movie at an AMC Theater in the back corner of a mall during the original theatrical release. I am among the lucky few to have seen it before it gained traction in the post-theatrical distribution circuit. It is a great indie-horror punk rock movie!
