Groove Reviews

It's no Human Traffic, but this film is still fun to watch and gets things right from a 90s rave perspective. Turn it on at 6am when you can't sleep or are still up from the night before.

Yes, it's a bit corny. Then again, it's probably next to impossible to emulate/replicate the true rave experience. You just had to be there. For those of us who were involved in the scene in the underground days, this movie hits home. Not even gonna lie, I tear up a bit with the Digweed scene every time lol. This film actually had some fairly deep meaning to it. Rigid, uptight guy needs to loosen up a bit falls for the girl who needs to get her life together. This film is a timeless classic!

Groove is the perfect rave in the sense that it's not commercial, it's from the fringe by locals, there's no alcohol, it's small, and everybody is having fun. However, nothing is perfect and so the night goes... The good. Excellent music. You meet almost every kind of raver. The characters are nice, well developed, and acted just right. Each scene has something special and represent a usual occurrence in a rave. You can feel the ecstasy taking hold, and you can live the tracks as if you were dancing the floor. The dialogs, interactions, actions, reactions, settings, and costumes are very realistic. The bad. Nothing. The ugly. Nothing. The result. If you've ever experienced a rave, after seeing this, you'll be looking for your next one.

A charming little movie from a team who obviously knows a lot about raves, but has a hard time recreating one for the screen. Its the year 2000, John Digweed is spinning at a warehouse party in San Fransisco, and only 30 or so people show up? Ha! As if. But really, other than the technical aspects that act as reminders that this is not a real party, this is an entertaining film, with good music, good vibes and a lot of heart. A leftover cinematic flyer for the parties of my late teens/early twenties.

A perennial favorite, I gave this one another look recently, as I've apparently been on a nostalgic kick for the late '90s/early '2000s, and I have to say that I still love this one every bit as much as I did back then. I say this as someone who loved dance music but never had any interest in being part of that scene, this is a really fun ensemble piece that follows a disparate group of people through a rave, all brought together by their love of the music. The only thing that is distracting now is that the cop who wanders through is played by the guy who has now come to fame as Ron Swanson on Parks & Recreation on NBC, so it's hard not to be taken out of the movie by that. Highly recommended.

Totally Flashback To My Warehouse Rave Days. Soundtrack Kicked In & I Was Back In Moments I'd Thought Forgotten. Loved The Vibe Felt Through This Mad Party Night.

I think this movie is great! It really shows the true story of a rave party. Raves really are not all about the drugs! PLUR :)

Pretty good film if you are looking for some laid back entertainment.

What Swingers is for Swing Music, Groove does a similar job with Techno in the mid-90's. If you were a club kid like me, you'll love this movie. Let is "roll" your way.
