A cute funny little slice of life comedy about two elderly fisherman that bicker like an old married couple. Their chemistry is great and only gets better when they both fall in love for the same woman. The main character is pretty likeable and his rival is just so done with the world & cynical. It's not exactly deep or bust-out-loud funny, but I get the vibe that it wasn't supposed to be. Just a cute little peek into the life of two elderly frienemies competing and having fun while they ice fish and pursue a second chance at romance before they kick the bucket.

A holiday classic filled with lots of heart and laughs. Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon are hilarious but Burgess Meredith steals the show as the sex obsessed old man who's always making double entendres. Watch through the credits for the blooper reel.

My favorite comedy of all time. I love both 1 & 2 and have watched and rewatched for so many times, through out the years. Reminds me of people and a time that I treasure. A close 2nd is my big fat Greek wedding.

This comedy classic was really good. Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Ann-Margret, Burgess Meredith, Daryl Hannah, Kevin Pollak, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. The story of the movie was entertaining, dramatic, and humorous. It's about a rivalry that's been going on for years and what it means to be a friend. If you haven't seen this classic movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see.

A Classic Comedy Romance. Matthau & Lemmon carry this film to a significantly higher level than it should. Without them and their phenomenal chemistry and witty delivery of the humor this would more than likely be a forgettable/hit or miss 90's Rom-Com. The cinematography is solid along with a solid music score as well. The editing & pacing is very well done also. This is a well written and witty story about never letting age stop you from being a better person and helping make those around you happier. Age is just an excuse at the end of the day. Very surprised at the level of character development across the board as well. The only faults I have with this honestly is some elements are predictable and while everything is very well done I wouldn't say it is flawless. 1/3 of the humor really hits, 1/3 makes me chuckle and the other third just kind of falls flat. Surprised at the dark humor at times in this. Honestly anyone that's a fan of any of the actors in this or a Rom-Com fan will love this. The Outtakes are THE BEST PART stay for all of it.

Laugh out loud. Some of the funniest classic comedic actors ever. Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon were a brilliant team and we're friends in real life the chemistry they have with each other on screen is absolutely amazing. Fun and laughs all around!

Funny film from the 90s featuring a few washed up old actors (Jack Lemon, Walter Mathau, Ann-Margret), this is mostly an ode to the grumpiness of old age, and fairly well done overall. The love connection between either of the protagonists and the female lead is hardly credible, and the ending is pretty silly. But it is worth the watch nonetheless. Kreines billed this to me as a Christmas/holiday film but it is not.

Ok film, works because of its leads.
