Hall Pass Reviews
the scores should be way higher. Lots of laughs
Classic movie. I first watched this on a flight and had to turn it off as I was laughing too much and disturbing those around me. I then watched at it home and literally fell of my couch laughing so hard. Great movie.
Hilarious movie, can't believe the scores are so low.
aged like milk, almost laughed two times
Really fun comedy movie. If you like dumb comedies this is for you
The humor is a little dated but that didn't stop this from being an instant classic. I definitely recommend you give this a watch!
This movie is hilarious! The only reason I can think of why the ratings are so low is that it seems unlikely for anyone to ever get a "hall pass" because i really don't understand how else they could be so low. But i guess if you get past that it's a top 5 rom-com. The cast is all great and it's so funny the whole time.
Funny at times. Not amazing. Just another stupid comedy
A movie that makes you not want to get old. Had some good twists, but overall not the funniest comedy you wish to see. Maybe it was a lesson to try and treat your partners well? I found it disappointing and surprised it was ever played in cinemas.
"Hall Pass" is only funny when Jason Sudeikis is on screen. And to be honest, it's not even that funny then. Hall Pass relies heavily on childish humor that never lands and a story that feels rushed and unearned. Owen Wilson seems like he doesn't even want to there, and frankly, I can't blame him. I don't care what kind of payday he received for this film, it 100% was NOT worth it. This movie is bad and I would advise you to steer clear.
Sudeikis is awesome in this one, Owen Wilson struggles to keep up, but the supporting cast is funny enough to make this enjoyable.
Wilson and Sudeikis are affable and the movie wants us to like them. This was disguised as conservative into some kind of anything goes frat house sex romp. We're meant to cheer on both of those things equally and that doesn't work when the movie shifts between them so easily.
Not the best by the famed Farrelly Brothers but still fun for what it is. There is a weird awkwardness to the first 25 minutes that makes this not as funny as it could be. It also tries very hard to be a Hangover. The strength of the movie is the cast. Jason Sudekis and Jenn Fischer stand out for their roles. Owen Wilson is ok but not his best. The rest of the cast is good but underutilized. I would loved to see more JB Smooth and more Stephen Merchant. They were just dressing when they are the two funniest people in the movie. Not a huge fan of Christina Applegate but she is good in this. O would say managed expectations make this more fun.
Stupidity up the 10power. 2 40 something men are giving a free week to do whatever. You see how sad they are while their wives get hit on. Funny at bits.
Non-stop laughter. The jokes still hit after 10 years. Learned the technique "fake chow" from this comedy hit and it has changed my life. Thanks Hall Pass!
This was hard to watch and even harder to finish. The jokes aren't funny, the dialogue is forced, awkward and without flow. The premise that Owen Wilson's wife is so unhappy with Owen's character wanting to have sex that she pretends to be asleep only to complain later of not feeling wanted is a big plot hole. Missing all redeeming qualities you root for no character to win and the movie is unenjoyable to watch. The wives refuse the husbands sex and blame the husbands for being obsessed with sex, checking out other women and don't see how problematic their approach is. The husbands, given a hall pass, pursue women with crude sexually graphic pick up lines and seem incapable of a normal social interaction. I felt bad, after the movie ended, and wished I could have back the 1h 51m watching anything else.
The Farrelly Brothers could not resist themselves from bringing in occasional gross-out humor casually, but it is mostly charismatic amusement fueling average decent hilarity before morally reflecting sappily to correct what the concept skeptically ridicules. (B)
