Hannah Gadsby: Nanette Reviews

Feb 8, 2025

Couldn’t stop crying for the last few minutes which (of course) never experienced in my life with stand-up comedy shows. And.. why not? 야 여기 와서 별점 테러하는 인생들도 애잔하다 진짜

I seriously can't believe anyone reviewed this as 5 stars. If I could give it zero I would. It's like being trapped in a woke Ted talk with the drama teacher from high school who's trying to be "cool" and "hip" and "woke". It's not funny. I found it depressing.

Absolutely hilarious. She has a depth to her that makes her story telling rich.

Half a star is honestly too much. I'm guessing at least some of the negative reviews are from people who are anti-LGBTQIA+, or anti-women in comedy, or maybe even anti-women. Maybe they aren't interested in the neurodivergent or in hearing about anyone's trauma. I assure you that that is not the case for me. With that being said, this "comedy" special is painfully, PAINFULLY unfunny. It's not comedy. It's a lecture, maybe. It's a rant, possibly. It's someone with a massive victim complex trauma-dumping on stage and charging people to view it, definitely. I am a true fan of stand-up and can almost always respect the craft of the comedian, even if I'm not a fan of their particular style. I cannot do that here. This was hot garbage. 0/10, do not recommend.

I watched this because it had 100% rating, I've lost faith in RT after this. Hannah Gadsby is not a comedian

Yikes! I’ve had more fun at the dentist.

Dude-Bros on here lambasting this set because it's too "woke" or "PC" need to chill out. No, it's not your typical hour-long comedy stand-up set. You won't be rolling on the floor laughing the whole time, and there will be moments that may make you feel uncomfortable. But it will be very, very worth it. Hannah is incredible at building tension. Much of the time, she uses that tension for the payoff of a big punchline. But other times, she uses it simply to speak her truth in a way she has never been able to before. And she bears her soul doing it. I guess some people can't handle that sort of thing. Or maybe they just can't take a joke. And at the end of the day, even if you don't enjoy the show for its entertainment value, it's a story (and a message) you may need to hear. And if you think you don't need to hear it, then you DEFINITELY need to hear it. That being said, I thought the parts intended to be funny were indeed quite funny. It's certainly a hell of a lot funnier than a lot of the other stand-up on Netflix. But that's just my opinion.

Raw and absolutely genius non-traditional comedy special. Hannah's approach to stand-up in this special is unlike anything I've ever seen. If you're looking for an easy laugh, this is not the place to find it. But she will take you on an emotional roller coaster that will either give you a fresh perspective on the world, or bring you in close for a laugh, a mental hug, and -- possibly -- a much-needed cry. Not for the faint of heart or fragile masculine egos. There are no holds barred in this special.

A battle cry. A warning. An absolute necessity.

'Hey, I'm X. Isn't that funny how X people experience Y? Well, you should have laughed at my jokes when you had the chance, because the world hates X and people like X, and you listener represent the evils of life... ...and that's how I became a comedian' Oops!!! I wasn't supposed to spoil everything. Well you can thank me later

When a critic rating and audience score vary this much you know there's something odd. I watched the show to prove it couldn't be as bad as people said. I was wrong. In a 1 hour show, apparently a comedy show, I didn't laugh out loud once, smiled maybe twice and almost chuckled once. Canned audience laughter and more applause of agreement than genuine laughing from the audience. At least a quarter of the show was Gadsby giving out to society or attempting to elicit pity. Bizarre and awful, even by the standards of today.

I just can't understand how she has become a famous comedian. She should not be even considered as a comedian. I came across her comedies in youtube a few times. I couldn't laugh at any of her jokes. Just out of curiosity, I took it upon myself as a challenge of watching her content for one hour straight, hoping I get atleast few laughs for 1 or 2 jokes. Nope...all I got at the end of the hour was headache. She is officially the worst comedian I came across in my whole life. She is a disgrace to comedy.

Not a "comedy" special. More of a Ted Talk. She acts like she's better than the audience and trends away from comedy the longer she goes. Also, "as you do" is not a punchline, it's just redundant and lazy from a comedic writing perspective. I have this special slotted just above Brendan Schaub's "work." HARD PASS

Just a really nice piece of garbage.

If you're a masochist whose kink is being ranted at by an angry lesbian, this one's for you.

I may well be late to this, but I just watched Hannah Gadsby: Nanette and I am floored by it. I truly believe this should be required viewing for every human. It crosses political ideologies, genders, sexual orientations, economic statuses, ethnicities, religious beliefs and generational eras. There are so many times the darts she threw were dead-centre bullseyes that I lost count. I'm not sure what took me so long to watch this but I know for sure I will waste no time getting a notepad and pen and cueing it back up to watch again. There are several statements she makes while telling her story that really struck a chord with me and I want to be able to find them easily for those times in the future when i feel out of balance as reading them will be just what I need to bring me back to the middle. Thank you Hannah, for your honesty, your bravery, your humor, and your tenacity. More simply stated, thank you for sharing your story with the world. I hope you never again silence your voice or bottle your anger. Your message is powerful and is exactly what the world needs - not only right now but into perpetuity (or at least until such time it becomes how things "used to be"). I hope to live long enough to witness that too.

Seriously boring, unfunny and awkward. NOT a comedy.

Sep 7, 2023

Utter victim narrative trash. Painfully unfunny, factually incorrect in her tired rant about inequality. Woke garbage for a braindead, indoctrinated crowd of mindless sheep.

Sep 7, 2023

Lmao at 100%, that's more hilarious than the entire "comedy special". RT critics are being disingenuous here. This is more of an uncomfortable therapist session. Thankfully there's an audience score, the average is basically the true rating. 100% tho lol, that's a good one.

This is not funny, just bland cardboard.
