Hard Rain Reviews
A great 90s dumb action thriller. Perfect switch your brain off movie.
Great movie. One of the best heist movies I have seen.
Not even the strong cast can make this mess work.
An armored vehicle is robbed in a huge storm and the officer in charge must make sure to secure the payload from every threat that comes his way.
Beside the fact that this small town beset by biblical flooding is clearly just a movie set with a lot of water, this is actually a fun movie. Good cast, timeless tale of greed warping good people (like in A Simple Plan), witty script from Graham Yost (Speed, Justified), and some nice imagery throughout.
First off, Hard Rain is actually one of the most unique movies I've ever seen in my life. All of the action sequences in the flood are top notch, which makes it all the more sad that this movie wasn't better. It's just clear that all of the time and money went into pulling off the visuals and not the story. And it couldn't have been more obvious that this was Speed - Flood Edition. Fortunately Morgan Freeman's character makes up for the bland-ness of our two cookie-cutter leads. It's just a pity they completely botched the ending, particularly regarding his character.
Hard Rain is a good heist/disaster movie. It has good cast It is very atmospheric. The Crawl received more praise than Hard Rain even though it has a similar story line. Hard Rain is better at least it doesnt have CGI.
Simple plot, pretty entertaining water park + universal studio visit. Not your everyday Freeman's stuff with a twist.
Very good movie. an armour car is robbed of gold, Notting goes right. The good become bad the bad good then reverse. Betty White adds a little humor. The pros don't understand fanasticy.
Another incredibly fun and underrated action film with Christian Slater, and has great peformances by Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid, and Minnie Driver. Has some pretty solid action in it as well.
Story/Screenplay: (1.5/5) One ridiculous scenario after another after another. Duration/Tempo: (3/5) At 1 hour and 37 minutes, it's a short movie that felt longer due to the ludicrous story line. Cast & Crew: (4/5) Morgan Freeman, Randy Quaid, and Minnie Driver were quite good. Summary: (2/5) This movie takes itself too seriously to have such a bad story. At some point, watching it becomes an insult.
With a surprising plot about a flash flood in a small town with a heist and man-made treachery amidst for three million dollars, Hard Rain actually offers decent character development, acting, great use of water effects and good tension with twists i actually didn't see coming. Probably one of the most underrated movies I have seen in the wave of disaster flicks near the end of the 1990's. No pun intended~
Starts off pretty good then goes through every possible trope trying to keep momentum. Seen better, seen worse, not the worst thing on Amazon but not really worth the time
A pointless but fun 90's action film that has surprisingly great casting from Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, Betty White, Edward Asner, and Minnie Driver. John Woo was attached to direct this film at one point which seems like a film he would direct but instead went on to direct Face/Off which is a much better action movie. Randy Quaid who I really like as an actor especially as the classic character Cousin Eddie does well in this film and does well in action movies as he proved in Independence Day.
I can't believe how badly received this movie is, I loved it, all the villains, the water, the chase, the originality, the heist. The gun shots, Betty White LOL. Don't go into movies always looking for a masterpiece, enjoy it wholly instead of picking at the pieces all the time.
I remember watching this many times on T.V. the earlier years..It's not bad, you watch it easily and you enjoy Slater acting..!
