Heist Reviews

Jul 25, 2024

This movie obviously has terrible reviews but I found it very entertaining.

Waste of time and talent, such as it is. Deniro can't act anymore. Should be retired.

The only real thing this film has, is actors. I have a problem with movies that START with a totally implausible premise. (Spoiler!) The whole basis revolves around the main character NEEDING money, because "the hospital won't save his little girls life...UNLESS HE PAYS UPFRONT!" Now...I know our Healthcare System is absolutely horrible...but COME ON!! Yeah...hospitals kick out dying children ALL THE TIME!! Laughable from the start!

It's odd that only now I got to see this 2015 flick. I guess we must have been traveling when it appeared in the cinemas. Well, what can I say?! Having Robert de Niro appear in a few scenes does not elevate this movie into higher realms, but with a cast of normally violent flick actors this is also not really a B-Movie. It hangs somewhere in between, and as such it's quite well made with a decent script, copying certain scenes from other movies of this genre, but still retaining some originality. Though only slightly tense, it is still rather entertaining. 5 1/2 of 10 points

Half this movie was about a casino heist gone wrong and the other half is a hostage situation on a bus.

Morgan does a good job in this. He's the only high point tho. Deniro is always great. Batista is… well. He screams a lot. Seems to be the only way he can act mad.. for the story, you'll need to suspend reality.. none of it made sense, and it the climax was very eye rollingly underwhelming.. I didn't regret watching it. There are definitely worse movies.. I recommend it. But don't go in expecting a good movie.

"Speed", "Con Air" ... - in the era of the heyday of the genre and the constantly experimenting 90s, the viewer could be surprised by dashing plot twists, action scenes, today's viewer is more spoiled in this regard. Give him computer graphics, truly apocalyptic Armageddon. Scott Mann's team made a bet on the principles and moves that we admired 20 years ago. Although I was personally pleasantly surprised by the dashing plot twist that is outlined at the end of the film. And yet, there are many inconsistencies here: how, for example, did the main character know in advance that he would get on this particular bus, because a car was waiting for his team, and if it weren't for the cowardice of his driver, they would definitely get into it. Another problem - the global silence of all bus passengers, even after all that has ended? Anyone who has seen the movie knows what I mean. Another blunder of the director is in the obvious stereotype of the script: a bad mafioso performed by Robert de Niro, who a priori is not supposed to do anything human; such an ideal croupier who is tormented by every bad deed, even if he did not commit it. And finally, the moment of insight. Somehow cardboard, hackneyed and completely unbelievable. All scenario moves are beaten so much that before that very notorious plot twist is closer to the end - you know what will happen next. Both the bad cop and the complete opposite - the girl cop - see the parallels between Pope and Luke? Perhaps, in every action movie, these analogies are present. This banality and stereotype was felt even by me - not a special fan of modern action films and crime thrillers, to say nothing of fans of the genre. This, it seems to me, is one of the main "merits" of the film's commonality, if not its failure. Sorry, but to collect only 50 thousand dollars at the US box office, with a budget of almost 9 million ... There are hardly any complaints about the game of master Robert De Niro, although the rest did not reveal their characters at all. What do we know about Luke Vaughn, besides the fact that he has a terminally ill girl, why did he suddenly "hit religion" and at the same time continue to work for the tyrant Vaughn, knowing about his affairs? The heroine of Kate Bosworth - Sydney came out completely cardboard, and Dave Bautista clearly overdid it in the performance of his hero Jason Cox. And yet the film in its spirit is close to those good old action movies of the 90s that my generation grew up on and adored. So thanks to the Bus 657 team for reminding me again of those amazing times.

It saddest heist story out of desperation, good actions & thrills. It cheap spin-off of the original "Speed" but it ain't no terrorist treat but this will knock you down with Batista Bomb.

It's fairly pedestrian in terms of plot, but it's a decent heist film, thanks to the extreme likeability of Jefferey Dean. DeNiro is kind of phoning it in, but he still manages to bring some dimension to his character. The final reveal is totally unbelievable, but it makes for a nice resolution.

Good heist movie. Acting is well done by Morgan. De Niro did phoned it in for this one though. The final scene in the bus was misleading and anticlimactic. With the amount of gasoline poured around, in a hot bus and a lit cigarette there should have been at least a fire. Just saying.

Didn’t care for this

Pretty cast but overly predictable. Why does Hollywood think there are mountains in the near New Orleans and Houston area.

I don't know why the score is so low. I really enjoyed this movie. The acting was great and the emotional appeal espicially at the end of the film was great for me. I thought the pope was a bad guy at the beggining of the film but he did something at the end that made me really like his character. Every time i thought the protagonist was going to get caught he somehow was able to cleverly plan his way out of the situation. Of course, he had it purposely designed to pan out that way in from the very beginning anyway and that was something that blew my mind at the end of the film. A great movie that I would recommend for someone to watch on Netflix.

GINA CARANO! (before she was unfairly CANCELLED), & DeNIRO& JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN, the guy who was NEGAN on TWD. xlnt thriller on a bus, with some very big twists. Why did the pro crits rate it so low? PS: There have been at least FOUR different movies named HEIST since 1998. This one NOT the same as the 2001 HEIST, written and directed by the Great DAVID MAMET who now writes also at NATIONAL REVIEW. Saw this 2015 version on tv again 2.13.2022

Unbelievably awful screenplay.

A poor man's Hunted. There is little suspense and the police seem to makes all the right guesses. After a couple of episodes you stopped having the hope and excitement that the thieves may have pulled one over on the police. Boring and infuriating.
