Hell Hole Reviews
Hellhole" is essentially an Eastern European imitation of John Carpenter's "The Thing." If you're desperately craving more of that body-horror paranoia, it might satisfy a very specific itch. However, for those seeking originality or even competent execution, this film is easily skippable.
i mean, it's B-movie status cheesy & more of a comedy/horror than straight horror, but kind of a fun watch. one of the best opening scenes, honestly, haha. it's got "The Thing"x"Dreamcatcher" vibes so if you're into those you might like it.
This movie really wasn't bad. I went into it, not knowing anything about it and came out enjoying it. Fans of John Carpenters "The Thing" will probably like this film , as it shares the whole alien jumping body routine in the movie. It has some really cool moments where bodies are exploding and the creatures design is pretty cool. The story starts out in Serbia. There is a Serbian franking operation going on. That's where the trouble starts. They discover a live person in a pod like cocoon that is infected with the foreign alien creatures. It comes out and starts the cycle of jumping to and from different members of the frakking team. This is where the creature gets hostile as it host keeps getting killed. It must find another. The team tries to escape from this monster. Is it too late, will anyone survive. From the ending, that they leave you with, I think the alien is alive.
This monster film was written, directed, and starred by John Adams and Toby Poser. The plot revolves around American drilling bosses in Siberia who discover a Napoleonic-era soldier in a shell with a parasite residing in his host body. When the host intends to commit suicide, the monster continues to shift to another body. It requires just a male host to survive. The film is below average, shot fully during the day, which reduces the fear factor.
Halfway decent movie. Acting is ok and special effects are meh. There are long conversations in a foreign language (Russian?) without subtitles which is really strange. It’s basically a modern take on The Thing.
It sucked. Bad what happened to movies. The remake of salems lot was 10 times better and it got a 48 score and you rate this trash as 80
The Adams, my favourite film making family in the horror genre return with "Hell Hole" another well made, but different small budget horror starring, written & directed by John Adams, Toby Poser & co written with their daughter, Lulu Adams. "Hell Hole" is unlike their previous movies, which were darker with more focus on revenge, motherhood, witchcraft, haunted by grief & guilt, but here they go lighter, with the feeling the Adams are having fun working around the budget to produce an entertaining creature feature mixed with environmental body horror & a sense of humour.
Look, Hell Hole is not too bad and it's certainly watchable. Great premise and overall the plot is delivered fairly well. Don't expect to see any Academy Award winning performances, as the acting would be best described as 'understated, (not bad by any stretch), and admittedly suits the type of story it is trying to tell. Pretty creepy with some suitably gory (but not over the top) scenes. Worth giving it a go if you are a horror fan... you may like it, you may not, but you xoujs certainly do much worse.
Only 15 min in and I can tell not gonna interest me. I'll watch bc I love horror but usually the first act pulls me in and I'm already indifferent...
This was painfully dull. I know what the filmmakers were aiming to make, because it obviously isn't overly sincere and it does have a center focused on some vague sociopolitical themes - but all of that amounts to nothing when each "horror" sequence is just a spinning record of dumb choices, bad character beats, editing which does that awful "if the audience doesn't see it, then the characters standing right in front of it don't either!" nonsense which SO many horror films are guilty of doing, and so on... Repeatedly, the cynicism and denial of the supporting cast is displayed which, given what we saw with people pretending that a disease spreading right in front of them was a "hoax," fine. That might happen... But people in denial of a massive danger at the very least *invent ANOTHER danger* to distract themselves. There is nothing approaching that level of thought or effort with this movie. It's not like the characters do dumb stuff or act erratically because the movie is pointing out that REAL people do this - it's just plot contrivance to make it so that six people with guns can't manage to see or shoot something directly in front of them because... reasons. Even the climax is just so "beginning of movie" stupid. Instead of behaving like the characters are actually **reacting to the plot's previous events** they just stroll around like they're supposed to be arriving at the next sequence's marks so that "Scary Off-Screen Ending" can happen. I'm not kidding when I say that after seeing how this parasite was able to kill half-a-dozen, armed, at-attention individuals in the woods, the surviving characters then decide to just take a stroll through the grass - completely unarmed and lackadaisically, like nothing is happening - in order to try to "contain" the problem. With zero effort or thought behind it. Like 'Under Paris', it's just another example of terrible horror movies being propped up by bad, AI-written reviews and the *idea* for a fun movie buried beneath the pile of used medical waste we're shown instead.
Shudder's 'Hell Hole' recently dropped on streaming services. SYNOPSIS: 'Hell Hole hails from the filmmaking family behind Hellbender and centers on an American-led fracking crew that uncovers a living French soldier frozen in time from a Napoleonic campaign, whose body hosts a parasitic monster.' Wow this is a bad film and I'm amazed it was even released. It's embarrassing in places. It isn’t scary at all or even particularly exciting with its horror devices. It’s shot more like a comedy than a horror movie but doesn’t have the jokes. At all. It's horrible and not in a good way and is one of the worst films I've seen in 2004. Absolutely rotten. 2/10
Garbage. Terrible. Terrible garbage. One of the worst things I have ever seen: no fear, no sense, no good effects. And the monster? Ridicolous. Almost as the OST. I could create something more credible and fearful by some rags and a broom. Please don't waste your time.
An average horror movie with decent kills. Not scary at all. Tim Treakle
Monster was cool. I like most horror fanatics am down for a lot of suspension of disbelief but some of the kills were so random and unbelievable. The film has very bizarre editing choices throughout. Also the Truck commercial guitar riffs throughout the movie were obnoxious.
A Scrappy Creature Feature with Humor and Heavy Metal Attitude
Low budget, but we'll acted and engaging. Nice suprise.
Alien: Romulus and Stephen King's Dreamcatcher had a baby and Shaun of the Dead was the midwife. :) This horror/comedy movie doesn't have a terrific plot or characterization, but it has a bloody good time embracing its b-grade movie monster madness. Come for the parasite, stay for the exploding bodies!
Funny name even if it doesn't really relate to the story at all. This wasn't too bad, needed more creature feature and less stale exposition but it makes sense with the budget they were probably working with.
"When I strangled him-" "As one does with the french..." 10/10 writing, I'd like to kiss everyone responsible for this movie on the mouth. What a fantastic silly time. Ending is hilarious. I need a sequel.
