not sure why but most disney films feel like a fever dream, especially this one. songs were good though. sharpay deserved better.

It's one of the best movie genres ugh, I still rewatch this once a year how can you miss out? I hate how terrible everyone was against their dreams of being a singer and a basketball player like damn, let them be. It's a great first song and a great beginning on how to start everything off into place. Sharpe and Ryan in this one are very annoying, and that plan against Troy was so damn mean jeez, really did that!!!. Ugh, I love the apology scenes they are getting my sensitive ass. Sharpie so evilllll she always up to something but she wont get away!!!!!! ever I love once they started singing everyone started standing up and singing enjotying everything!!!

IDGAF about all the negative things the critics had to say about HSM but this movie raised an entire generation and it’s very iconic and this movie will forever be part of my childhood. 🤍

Arguably the most iconic and important Disney Channel Original Movie of all time! The Disneyfication of Grease has cleaner-cut cliques such as basketball players, academic competitors and theater kids, while delivering a more positive message about conformity. Its unprecedented success shifted the focus of the entire Disney Channel to be more music-centric, from its content to its “commercial” breaks. Kenny Ortega is one of the contemporary greats when it comes to shooting and choreographing dance sequences for film in ways that play to the medium’s strengths. It probably has the most talented main ensemble cast out of all the Disney Channel Original Movies, led by the culture-icon couple: Zac Efron (voiced by Drew Seeley) and Vanessa Hudgens. However, it’s Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay Evans who steals the spotlight throughout the series.

Too much singing. Overtragic, ridiculous, boring and they seem like they're in kindergarten and not high school

This movie is extremely overrated. The plot is extremely basic, and the songs are below mediocre.

Loosely based on Shakespere’s Romeo & Juliet, this Disney Channel original movie features two high school students, one a basketball jock, the other a math and science geek, falling for each other as they both audition for the musical. The plot for this film isn’t deep and is just another script produced by the Disney machine to appeal to the young middle and high school crowd. What brings this movie up is the music by David Lawrence that creates a well crafted musical with several catchy songs. The choreography is also well performed and crafted to allow middle and high school students can easily perform it at home. There is some good acting here as well from Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Lucas Grabeel and Corbin Bleu. I did find Ashley Tisdale’s Sharpay a little much. My other complaint is the plot just wrapped up quickly, seeming to skip some scenes that should have played a bigger role in some of the characters’ development. I think this movie is worth your time.

A pitch perfect musical. This is a unique musical movie that was never repeated again. The standard set by high school musical 1 was so high, nobody can create another musical as good as this one.

I have many memories connected to this movie.

This is a Disney classic for people born in early 2000's. I'm biased, I'll admit it. BUT COMMON. The music is actually good. It's fun, and it's the best musical from that era. I'm a grown adult now and I still enjoy the movie. 18 years later and this movie still hasn't aged (besides the outfits)

eh, the first movie was pretty good. not bad. it's a good movie, but after that, the franchise took a nosedive into what I like to call: milking the cow too much.

Amazing 10/10 best movie I've ever watched

i am 15 years of age. i have never watched high school musical in my life, until now. my buddies thought it would be a grand idea to make me watch it. let me tell you this, that was the worst 98 minutes of my entire life. i cannot describe the aching pains i got on my bones from this monstrosity. i was able to sit threw many unfortunate, horrible, soul shattering things and i have to say this was the worse. there is nothing to prepare for the outcome of what you feel after this. i do not recommend. -1/10

This movie just never gets old.

Anyone who wasn't seen this as a child upon its release is an uncultured swine.

You know, some movies never fail to put a smile on my face. Such is the case with High School Musical. This film is the heart of the series. From the chemistry among the cast, the believable dialogue, the catchy musical numbers and well executed choreography, it served as defining experience for the youth. It's crazy to think it was a Disney Channel Original Movie, since I'm sure it would've made money in theatres. Its message of breaking the Status Quo being who you want to be, regardless of what others think was and is an important one, which still resonated with me and countless others around the world. Truly, an iconic movie.

The music is amazing!! The story is really well done. It's one of my favorite disney original movies.

Fun but with the stylized Disney camp. They seem to think that shows for young adults must have absurd characters and a laugh track. Either that or they just assign their worst dialog writers to them.
