High School Musical 2 Reviews

Jul 7, 2024

In this Disney Channel original movie sequel, it is summer vacation and the students of East High all get jobs at the Evans’ country club, but will their friendships last while getting ready for the talent show? Several plot points and character developments were abandoned for this sequel in favor of the plot. This movie also focuses more on Zach Efron’s character, which follows the target demographic, but doesn’t make for the best narrative. The music seems like a rehash of the previous movie and doesn’t hit the same beats the first movie did so well. The choreography is on point in this film, just like the first. There is some enjoyment here if you are a fan of the first movie.

Better than the original, and definitely a perfect sequel! It was more heartfelt, and had some of the best songs in the whole trilogy!

Good for what it is, but rough watching now that I'm older.

The songs were amazing and certain scenes were played to perfection, but the overall storyline seemed a bit… eh…

If anyone claims to be a fan of the first movie and doesn't like the sequel, then there is no talking to you.

Beautiful music. Zac Efron’s choreography in the “Bet on it” scene was so beautiful, I even shed a tear.

Over 15 years old already This is one of my favorite sequels from Disney Channel by director Kenny Ortega Much of the original cast returns from the hit 2006 original including Zac Efron as Troy, Vanessa Hudgens as Gabriella, Ashley Tisdale as Sharpay, Lucas Grabeel as Ryan, Monique Coleman as Taylor, Olesya Rulin as Kelsi, and Corbin Bleu as Chad It’s officially summer vacation and the East High Wildcats are off to get jobs to prepare for their futures with college etc. But Sharpay plans to steal Troy away from Gabriella even sabotaging the talent show making the rest of her classmates into employees for her parents’ Lava Springs resort Troy also must make a big decision regarding his future for scholarships or maintaining his relationship with the rest of his teammates as well as Gabriella This had better songs, flashier colors, more refined themes, and it allowed these actors to grow and get better Efron actually sang in this one plus it created such a popular vine on the internet I absolutely love Gotta Go My Own Way as it’s very heartbreaking with Gabriella doubting who Troy has become and she’s willing to go her own path until he makes the right choice The plot could've been stronger though and the Fabulous song is my least favorite Yet it fully embraces the camp aesthetic taking place at an exaggerated country club catering to the wealthy It’s crazy they advertised it at the YMCA in my old neighborhood It obliterated tv records becoming the highest rated program at the time It’s also quite amazing it spawned so much clothing and merchandise The film demonstrates its prioritization of spectacle, in this case, sonic spectacle, over realism It also plays around with gender roles particularly with sports being associated with masculinity and dancing with femininity and eschewing conformity There’s really good existential query about reaching a crossroads; a real dilemma that has no easy answer Everyone will always be chasing the same opportunities, you don’t want to be left behind when choosing your path in life, we always like being in charge of our futures until they start happening, we can still think about right now not what will happen later, there’s always time to make the right decision Overall it’s about the push and pull of moving forward when you don’t want to leave your loved ones behind The movie changed childhoods across the world, made household names out of unknown teen actors, and ushered in a new era of IP for one of the biggest corporations in the business A worthy sequel to the original movie that brought musicals back in the foray

The sequel to High School Musical serves as the Magnum Opus of the series. Building on the success of its predecessor, this film improves all aspects. The songs are catchier, the choreography is greater, and the plot and characters are more fleshed out. Best one out of the three and it's not even close.

Kinda weak, made for 온라인카지노추천 type songs. To enjoy you must like Disney style teenagers.

High School Musical 2 is a bright and exciting sequel to an already energized franchise. With stronger production value, solid choreography, and a highly likable cast, HSM2 delivered exactly what fans expected. While the songs in this film lack the instant recognition of those in the first, it was nice to hear Zac Efron's actual singing voice rather than have it dubbed. In the end, this film added great character depth and focused on the hard decisions surrounding priorities. With low stakes and a carefree summer attitude, High School Musical 2 is a good transition point from the first film's discovery to the big choices in the finale. Also, "Bet On It" is a certified good time!

This movie is disappointing. This is the worst movie in the trilogy. The concept is almost exactly the same in this movie except its only Troy having problems.Gabriella has no problems except not seeing troy. This one ends with another musical just like the last movie but the songs are better in this one. Fine movie --- 7/10

I think that this movie is ok. I think that Troy has the most character development in this movie and I also think that his solo song is the best. I think that Ryan also has pretty good character development. I think the premise of the movie is ok and I also think that the ending is the worst ending in the trilogy. Overall a ok movie,- 7/10

This movie does have a better storyline than the first one, yet the first 20minutes felt like an hour. The "Work things out" song brings the movie back to the "High School Musical" vibe that was established in the first movie, and the following songs; You are the music in me, I don't dance, "I gotta go my own way" and "Bet on it" were just as good. The trophy from Sharpay was a well suited end to the movie. All for one is also a really good song. I did not like the storyline where Bolton was tricked by Sharpay, got a raise etc. Kinda awkward, but I guess that is how these movies are made. Still a nostalgic run for the time I spent watching it.

Pleasantly Surprised. The acting, cinematography, editing and pacing are all better here than the first. That being said none of the elements are phenomenally done but defiantly better. The dancing is better in this one. While the songs overall aren't as good as the first (save for a handful which are) everything is still well sung. The plot is very simple but does a good job of developing the characters further though not in a serious way. If you liked the first you'll like this one also.

High School Musical 2 is one of my favorite film directed by Kenny Ortega, the mains characters of this movie is Troy Bolton played by Zac Efron, Gabriella Montez played by Vanessa Ane Hudgens, the twins Sharpay and Rayan Evans played by Ashley Tisdale and Lucas Grabeel, Taylor McKessie played by Monique Coleman and the last main character is Chad Danforth played by Corbin Bleu and it was release in 2007. The action take place in summer when Troy Bolton, Gabriella Montez and the Wildcat must find a summer job quickly, Sharpay Evans which had goal seduce Troy so steal him to Gabriella has troy hired in the country club of her parents but he came in the country club with all his friends and Gabriella. To separate the two lovers Sharpay will propose to Troy all the things that he wishes, especially the scholarship of Albuquerque The plot seems to be absorbing and make you want to watch especially if you have seen the first one. The acting performance was spectacular because they look comfortable with their role. They fullfill at my expectation we can feel their émotions. The angles of view in this film are impressive, with different angles, like the close-up when the actors are talking and the traking shot when some times the actors walk. My oppinion of the music in this film is for me spectacular because when they sings the music fits them. The film's message was to enjoy life without any limits and do all the things we want. Generaly i find this film absolutely fascinating, i recommend to you this film if you like the musical comedy with music all the time, with story of love of jealousy…

A sequel that's better than the original, High School Musical 2 is still cheesy and silly, especially where the main plot is concerned, but the committed performances, adorable chemistry between its two leads, better choreography during musical numbers and more memorable songs make this sequel a step in the right direction. Not bad for a DCOM. Guess I misjudged them as being purely girly fare...still don't think I'll watch Camp Rock or Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie, though.
