Hit & Run Reviews
Hit & Run is very much hit and miss. The plot careers all over the place and a lot of the jokes definitely sputter, but with the laidback, goofy Shepard at the wheel, the film somehow keeps on the road.

I went into Hit & Run with the lowest possible expectations, and even then I'm not so sure it met them.

HIT AND RUN is a film that turns out to be more than the sum of its parts, even if it ends up feeling a bit generic and stupid.

...the story's pacing is erratic, and the comedy is dragged down by the slapstick antics of Tom Arnold as a moronic marshall who can't keep his gun in his pants.

Unfortunately for writer, co-director and lead actor Dax Shepard, his attempt of writing a comedic script is an absolute car crash, as he substitutes genuine comedy with cheap, offensive gags.

It's almost as much fun to watch Hit & Run as it must have been to make it.

The comedy is hit or miss-it's hard to pull off a good prison rape joke- nevertheless, this was a decent, well-acted movie.

Those with a passion for cars - in particular anyone fond of American classics - will enjoy this endless car chase, but the rest of us will wonder where the witty romance went.

It's a B movie with B movie stars and aspirations that never rise beyond "Let's have fun on camera and hope it translates onscreen." More often than you'd expect, it does.

Hit & Run isn't always a smooth ride, but the quirks and misfires make it as distinctive as the actor behind many of the film's creative choices.

Hit & Run may stall early and often, but the Bell/Shepard screen chemistry serves as a nitrous boost.

I'll be darned if I didn't like the characters. They're fun, often unpredictable and reasonably humorous.

Hit and Run has a bouncy, goofy charm.

It's 'Smokey and the Bandit' as conceived by a Quentin Tarantino wannabe.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Nov 2, 2012
Shepard wrote the script and co-directed with David Palmer (Brother's Justice), constructing an ideal vehicle for the real-life couple's spirited banter.
| Original Score: B+ | Oct 26, 2012
It's highly entertaining with cameos by several of the director's pals and pit stops for delivering sub-Tarantino dialogue.

There is a lot of boring Clarksonian chatter about motorcars, but, inhibited by a modest budget, the stunts prove to be depressingly unspectacular.

Audiences out for a bit of mindless fun will probably enjoy this raucous road movie, but only if they can look past comedy that relies on jokes about racism, sexism and homophobia.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Oct 12, 2012
The film's characterisation is hopelessly underdeveloped and an undercurrent of homophobia does little to make the experience any less tedious.

For a comedy the laughs are hard to find.
