I read the reviews and still watched it just to see if I agree with the critics. I think a lot of them were more attached to their personal feelings on the leading actress and not the movie itself. It was pretty good. This a the film if you like weird dark independent feel comedies.

What starts out as a silly slightly comic family flick, soon becomes a very macabre, dark and bloody affair, but strangely enough, as being so far over the top, it becomes grotesquely and absurdly funny. Katherine makes for the perfect cold psychopath growing from her obsessive-compulsory attitude into full blown bloodthirsty craziness. One needs a taste for black humor to enjoy this flick, but if you do have that, it is quite hilarious. 7/10 points.

I think that a lot of these rarings must come from people who never saw the movie. Either that, or they think every movie should be Citizen Kane. This is a fun movie with very good acting and plenty of plot twists. Catherine Heigl was great and so SEXY!

This movie was freaking awesome! It just kept getting better and better. My jaw dropped during the Dusty scene. Katherine Heigl is amazing as a psycho. "Like a human Kabob" lmaoooo

A good dark comedy. The film contains the right kind of unlikely hero. Mind you, I would give I MARRIED AN AX MURDERER an A grade; this movie gets a B-.

I was not expecting this movie to be so good well acted and funny af..

The only laughable bit is Patrick Wilson's accumulated freakout near the climax and how the social horror concludes, while the rest of this awful maniacally psychological, self-contradicting black comedy filled with suddenly flat, unlikable characterization cringing awkwardness that disposes the nice cast through loss of dignity is flat-out non-enjoyable. Excellent film!! I don't normally re-watch movies, but I did watch this film 3 times! Edgy, funny, dark, really well written and with top notch directing and acting. Don't believe the negative reviews. Katherine Heigel must have ticked off some Hollywood types or reviewers, because this is one of the better movies to come out of Hollywood. Some audience reviews makes you wonder if they're farmed out by the competition or clueless individuals that have no brain or taste!

It's bloody, wacky, funny best stay away from family. Not really sure who are the target audience tho...

Definitely better movie than the reviews. Patrick Wilson and Katherine Heigl play their characters perfectly in this dark comedy. You have to watch to the very end to find out how the film finishes

This Movie Is So Underrated. A Must Watch For Anyone Who Likes Anything Edgy

Idk who would say its a bad movie lol. Watch it! Anyone saying its bad obviously doesnt know a good movie! Some stated " they like romantic comedy's!!" Than why watch this!? Someone also said, this movies makes no sense!" Huh??? This movie is great! So dam funny too! Watch it! U wont be disappointed!

Poor screenplay, poor acting, Heigl doesn't even try enough to keep it afloat. Terrible...

The premise for this movie could of seen it being a hilarious comedy of errors.. All the elements were there, great cast, good setup, but something fell apart in the execution, did someone forget to bring the jokes? Ended up being an excruciating test of endurance.. I think the joke was on the audience.

Really good watch, would watch again and can recommend. Sometimes, it's important to watch movies with actors of which you're less of a fan. It lowers your expectations and reminds you of their true, objective acting talent. This is a very interesting watch on the real life symptoms and side effects of sociopathy and/or repressed psychopathy. It's the time of psych thriller that is scary because it could be happening to you in your own home. It doesn't mean you're stupid / not perceptive or they're super smart / devious. It just means that they're (at least) slightly more calculated than you. There is a slew of metaphors in here from equals in a relationship to the upper class lording over their lessers, but there is a pivotal moment where they could have expressly made it about men vs women, and it (very obviously) did not turn down that road. Really, if you like pysch thrillers, put this in your queue, I think you'll enjoy it.

HORRIBLE MOVIE! I usually like movies with Katherine Heigl and Jim Belushi. Plot was terrible! Thought it was a typical romantic comedy feel good movie...this is anything but! They tried to mix horror with comedy music...terrible mix! Definitely would NOT RECOMMEND!!!

So, starting with the good... it wasn't boring. So the film has that going for it. The story actually started off pretty well. The premise was interesting. But then it fell apart. The wife's character is supposed to be concerned with appearances, but then she starts having embarrassing public tantrums at the very end. Why? The whole point of getting away with their actions was to keep up appearances. Additionally, they go a whole marriage, and suddenly her homicidal tendencies know no bounds? That was strange. And let's talk about how all women here are cold, manipulative witches who control helpless men with sex. And the only way to end the misery is to kill them. Sure, it's entertainment, but the writing says something disturbing about whoever wrote the story.
