Home Sweet Home Alone Reviews
Despite some nudge-nudge-wink-wink nods to the original, the sixth movie in the franchise, directed by Dan Mazer, is also the worst.

Its illogical plot comprised of three idiot protagonists, unfunny traps and jokes, and a recycled plot from the first Home Alone doesn't make it worthwhile...

It's shocking how badly this reboot misses the charm of Home Alone.

Forgettable Fun in the Home Alone reboot

Ultimately when you trade off a franchise name like Home Alone, you need to bring your A-game, otherwise it just feels derivative. Which is where Home Sweet Home Alone finds itself.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Jan 16, 2023
Home Sweet Home Alone is an affectionate update of the original Home Alone film.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 25, 2022
"Home Sweet Home Alone" tries to relive the magic of the first film but falls flat consistently.
| Original Score: 3/10 | Jun 21, 2022
In stronger and more creative hands, this could have been at least some harmless fun, but instead this just feels like a 90 minute SNL skit without a good punchline.

It tries too hard - and fails - to capture the charm that made the original a beloved Christmas classic. [Full Review in Spanish]
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Dec 30, 2021
Instead of just aiming to make a good movie, Home Sweet Home Alone tries to manipulate its audience with music cues and familiar faces.
| Dec 17, 2021
The biggest problem with this movie is I wasn't rooting for anybody.

Alas, the moments of solid comedy and numerous Easter eggs are not enough for Home Sweet Home Alone to overcome its clunky plot.

It's a bold move, I suppose, to remake a beloved Christmas comedy and invert the roles - where the pre-teen hero is now the loathsome villain, and the scummy bad guys are now sympathetic characters. Doomed, but bold.
| Original Score: 1/4 | Nov 20, 2021
It's a little more nasty and not as good natured.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Nov 20, 2021
Home Sweet Home Alone is as utterly forgettable as it gets.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Nov 19, 2021
Home Sweet Home Alone is wack and not even worth the time it takes to hit the play button on the app. Not worth having the kids watch in the car. Not on a plane. Just an utter disappointment.
| Original Score: D- | Nov 19, 2021
Cue copious snooker balls to the face, plenty of potential Christmas toy product placement and the gratingly repeated use of the wrong plural for Lego.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Nov 18, 2021
No longer will coal be the punishment for naughty children at Christmas time, Home Sweet Home Alone will be instead.
| Original Score: 0.5/5 | Nov 17, 2021
By this point, after no fewer than five previous features in the franchise, Home Sweet Home Alone might not have much new to offer. But the characters here have a wholesomeness to them that was missing in some of the earlier films.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Nov 17, 2021
It feels derivative and wrong-headed, a film that doesn't quite get why its source material worked so well. Despite its top-tier cast, Home Sweet Home Alone winds up more on the sour side.
