Honey Boy Reviews
It was a bit difficult to watch, which maybe was the point, but I was more interested in Lucas Hedges' performance being at the rehab; I could have seen maybe a little bit less of the childhood, but I'm probably in the minority with this opinion.
Amazing acting and story. So many layers. Better than I expected.
The movie is so good, sad but it’s a nice one !
The most depressing movie I've seen all year.
Great movie with some tough scenes. Wife hated it but she’s uncultured. Good acting. Interesting ending.
GROOVY MAN FILM ROCKS 10 STAR YIPPIE
Words cannot express how much I Loved this movie, it’s a movie that really touches your soul. Thank you Shia.
It was a beautiful sorry about a father and son trying their best to connect. And even though sometimes it doesn't work out they both yearn to be loved and accepted by each other. powerful performances all around. Especially from Shia Labeouf.
Self indulgent bore. I appreciate the craft and guts that went into making this film but I was bored within 20mins. Kid actor is worth the price of admission alone.
Everyones performance was a home run. Not just Shias. It was an amazing, real movie that makes you feel.
Fantastic... Don’t miss it!!
I was not able to view the movie because of “projector issues” with the copies my theater had. Have not gotten refunded yet
We were the only ones in the theater. Boring movie!!
very thought provoking. Shia does an excellent acting job. I think this movie could help heal people from damaged relationships.
beautiful story, acting & cinematography
This is a very special, unique film written by Shia LaBeouf, based on his childhood and his relationship with his father, starring LaBeouf as his own father, with Lucas Hedges and Noah Jupe portraying LaBeouf during two different stages of his life. This is a brutally honest and sometimes terrifying look at LaBeouf's life growing up with his father controlling his career decisions, and the ramifications this controlling behavior will have on a child, later in life. This really is 90 minutes of raw honesty from Shia LaBeouf, you understand from the film's opening just how important and personal this story will be. Maybe even more so a story about his own childhood and acting career, this is a deep dive into the demons Shia's father faced throughout his life, including drug and alcohol addictions. Lucas Hedges is an amazing actor and gives a powerful performance here as an adult Shia, dealing with alcoholism and ultimately rehabilitation. He really does capture that classic Shia intensity perfectly. Shia himself though, as his own father, he is such a powerhouse in this role! People tend to only focus on his personal life, past struggles, and all of the public performance art projects he's been doing, and completely overlook how very talented the man is. But his role and the performance don't work without Noah Jupe as a young Shia. Noah Jupe also plays the son Marcus in A Quiet Place, and more recently the son Peter Miles in Ford v Ferrari. His is beyond phenomenal here, the chemistry between him and Shia is off the charts, as the majority of the film depends on the passion of one bouncing off the other. I'm excited to see what kind recognition this film receives this season; if you are able to catch it in theaters, I highly recommend it while it's around, otherwise I'm sure it will land on Prime Video sometime soon.
Absolutely superb! Heartbreaking, funny, loving and beautifully written and directed.
A deep, raw and honest script that comes to life through wonderful gutsy performances. Each character takes you on a journey but the complexity of the plot is transmitted primarily through the eyes of a child and the complexity of his father in a powerful touching way. A definite must see.
Superb acting and unusual storyline.
Excellent Movie. Emotional, powerful and Touching. Honey Boy, is a must see. I personally will see it again.
