Hounds of Love Reviews

For me this film is a Horror, very disturbing.. I watched the Arrow Film Blu Ray, I turned it off on first viewing, even though you don't see what happens in some seems you know what is happening which made it more disturbing for me On second viewing I knew what to expect and liked the film very much, based/inspired by a true story of a Serial killer couple in the 80s this film is well shot, well acted... Very gritty. Probably my favourite Australian film. What makes the feel disturbing/scary is that it could happen to anyone on anyday. Stephen Curry did a very convincing performance.

I cannot recommend this film. Although well shot and well acted, watching it did nothing more than deeply upset me. I think? it suggests that the complicit female is a victim, but her choices and conduct are ultimately worth imprisonment, not empathy. Spoiler alert: I stayed with it until the unsatisfying end in hopes that the actual victim would remedy my horror with revenge against her captors. Alas, no such luck. This is torture porn and I cannot understand why anyone would make this film.

A well-crafted movie with an excellent performance from Emma Booth

Not amazing, but it had the ending we all wanted (and the one we all saw coming). The ending scene was an emotional moment. My biggest gripe is that the movie wants you to feel bad for the female kidnapper, even though she is entirely complicit in the crimes and should never take care of children. Would have liked to see her go to prison or something.

Hounds of Love is a disturbing psychological thriller/horror that does a good job of maintaining the tension. Stephen Curry was a surprise casting choice but he does a good job.

Simple but efficient ... i chose watching it like a teenager movie that does not need concentration... but what a surprise... the construction is perfectly done, te movie is really great by being so simple.... well dne Australia

Pretty decent and believable storyline that doesn’t go over the top. The ending was surprisingly good too. Worth watching for sure.

Extremely potent Thriller excelling in creepiness and intensity. The performances are great all around (bravo to Emma Booth and Stephen Curry) and the cinematography and excellent use of slow-motion really add to its atmosphere. Not great by any means, but a film that doesn't have to rely on as much actual violence and blood as its message is crystal clear. Disturbing.

this is probably one of the only films like this that has a "happy" ending, lol. & i did enjoy it, actually - definitely gave me the feels. however, i feel like that was quite unrealistic which made it feel kind of insincere. idk how to describe it. the moment when she realizes they stole other people's mail was just fantastic; how heart wrenching. i'm not sure what i would've rather had happen, but i just felt like there should've been more of a fight between her family & the captors... instead it was like they just screamed in the road for 5 minutes & then all of a sudden she's free & comes out to meet them. seemed weird to me, idk.

This movie certainly could have used a little bit mire of a revenge factor, but overall, the ending was still pretty powerful.

It's not for the faint of heart. If you can get past all the terrible actions, it's a terrific movie. Also some of the best cinematographers to date.

Haunting thriller, that can be hard to get through for some. It's a powerful and excellently acted portrayal of just how much a person can be manipulated into horrific acts, just with lies and false promises. The ending is a little unbelievable and sappy, but not impossible. And it's not enough to detect from an otherwise solid film.

Wow! What a great movie. Had some tough scenes to get through, as expected with a kidnapping/torture movie. It worked out in the end but it was a tough road to get there. The ending was a bit weak, and unbelievable to me (slightly) and could have been done better. The acting was phenomenal. The setting was great, really showing the different classes in society.

So if the question of why you're even watching this shit doesn't beg itself long before the half-way mark then you're probably a dickhead. I'm keen to watch more of Ben's work though. He fucked up here but showcased a lot of skill too. Great "Australian" story though........yeah, right.

Very creepy and well made. I liked that it wasn’t overly graphic and left the nasty stuff to the imagination. The setting in 70’s Perth was very familiar to me. Horrible story of course, but well handled.

Amazing, but the story is very ordinary and didn't give something new ,only the two actors are the best and their expressions which made me say amazing and also the movie failed to explain their characters very well

A movie that never lives up to the self importance it claims for itself. While brilliantly performed and competently directed, you can't hide a shallow script.

PROFITANT D'UN SCÉNARIO QUI N'EST VISIBLEMENT PAS POUR TOUT LE MONDE, HOUNDS OF LOVE EST UN THRILLER PSYCHOLOGIQUE INTENSE MAIS AVEC UNE BONNE ÉCRITURE ET DES BONNES PERFORMANCES DE SES ACTEURS PRINCIPAUX. COEURS SENSIBLE S'ABSTENIR.
