House Party Reviews

Jan 26, 2025

a rompin, roaring good time even 35 years later plenty of laughs, cool music and 90's teen exploration to spare this soundtrack kicks all kinds of ass and Robin Harris has the best lines in here it also depicts the real way parties should be held whether it involves DJing, girls, jail etc. definitely a real pleaser for the viewer

Filme legal, o roteiro é bacana, as cenas deveriamser melhores, mas parece que o filme tem muitas festas e quase nada aconteia, e também o filme não trouxe uma coisa tão boa de se ver.

instant Classic, a Beyond Authentic Portrayal of being a Fun Loving Teen Growing up in South Central Los Angeles California in the 1980's, the Movie Realistically Shows us what Hip Hop Music was Truly About back than, it was All about (FUN, in-House Parties, and Consensual Affair's) instead of the Violence and Drama in 2020's nowadays

It's a good entertaining movie. I'll go as far to say it's an pop culture treasure with memorable soundtrack and references that people still use to this very day.

This movie on so many levels feels like a time machine back to the 90s. I personally was born in 2003 so this movie was a fascinating watch. The best part in this movie was probably the musical and dance aspects. The comedy in this movie just made me smile some but this movie definitely has that cheesy 90s movie feel that feels nostalgic. This isn't a movie to watch seriously, just a movie to jam to and to experience that 90s vibe with that comes off charming and silly. C-

There are some annoying character traits in the movie. Like Kid and Play can be dicks at times. But the biggest issue is the villains. The bullies who get murdery for no real reason. There is no evidence they have any issues before he accidentally spilled a little food on him, which doesn't equal murder or obsession over it. Plus, Stab? That's not intimidating. That's like calling a sniper shoot. But fortunately Stab and his goon squad is more of a subplot and the rest of the movie is really funny.

At first, I tried to give House Party the benefit of the doubt. After all, I am not a Kid 'n Play fan, I'm not a teen (or rather, a 30-year-old playing a teen), and I'm not black. I initially thought that if I were any of these things, I might be enjoying the movie more because I would then be the target demographic. However, as it progressed and I realized the plot is repetitive, the acting is inconsistent, and the humor is lazy & immature, I realized how pointless watching this movie was. It was a waste of my time. Frankly, I don't see why anyone would accept an invitation to watch House Party.

House Party is a classic! I enjoyed the chance to watch it in a theater. The facilities were nice. Not too crowded & the snacks were reasonably priced.

This comedy was pretty good. Christopher Reid, Christopher Martin, Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Robin Harris, and the rest of the cast did a great job in this movie. The plot of the movie was entertaining and humorous. It's a great party movie about taking chances even if it gets you in trouble. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching.

The original and the best. The Hudson Brothers look at teen angst through the lens of stars Kid N Play. Centered around a high school house party and the infinite quest for female companionship this one is funny and endearing. Released in 1990 it is all 80's from mullets to the parachute pants. The late Robbin Harris is great as a single Dad trying to set his son on The right path. Good music. Great cast. Martin Lawrence steals the show. I love the way the movie addresses racism and issues with the police- the contrast between Robin Harris' approach and the younger generation is very telling in light of the police response. Nothing is better than a movie that uses laughter to make you think about more serious issues.

Credit for some originality here. However, I don't need to see it again. Saw on HBO.

The greatest sequence is when one of the main characters gets his butt belted by his daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Story/Screenplay: (2.5/5) A droning story of events that occur the night of a house party. It's a comedy that never made me laugh. Duration/Tempo: (2/5) At 1 hour and 40 minutes, it's an average length movie that feels an hour longer. Painful at times. Cast & Crew: (2.5/5) Not much here except Martin Lawrence. Summary: (2.5/5) Boring.
