How It Ends Reviews
Zoe Lister-Jones is excellent, as is Cailee Spaeny as Zoe's younger/inner self, who I feel has been miscast in other films where she portrays an adult. In real life, most people would feel too bummed-out to go to an "end of the world" party but this idea sometimes works in a comedy. Would the main character's family and friends all live within walking distance of her in Los Angeles? Olivia Wilde looks really attractive in this movie.
Some of the scenes seemed not needed or out of place but the overall feel and message were great.
the sunshine and the empty (lockdown) streets make it really beautiful to look at
Actually after reading negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised. Good acting , good plot and somewhat educational .
This movie was so unbelievable from beginning to end. Total waste of time and the ending had no indication of what was supposedly going on. Ugh, just brutal!
I love this movie. I have seen it twice, and will no doubt see it many more times in the future. The journey taken by the main character/s is funny, poignant, off the wall and also very touching in parts. The cast is amazing and there is literally never a dull moment. Highly recommend.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It is an odyssey through the neighborhoods of Los Angeles for a woman at the end of life on earth as we know it (a comet is to hit the earth in the morning). Like Ulysses, she meets up with a variety of different characters, each handling the situation in unique and strange ways. Almost perfect, maybe so slow? I appreciated her sidekick as well. No spoilers, please watch.
If you appreciate the true art of writing, you will love this film. Sure, it's not your typical end of the world film, but what it offers is far more heart felt and introspective than any typical "end of the world movie." This is the type of film that forces you to reflect on yourself and what you find important via satirical comedy and an incredibly well written script. Phenomenal acting brings it all together. Side note: this film is not for narcissists lol
Boring, self centered and unentertaining.
What I enjoyed most was the dialogue between the main character and her inner child. It's a sweet inner journey while facing one's death and in that way, this light comedy is actually very profound.
A meandering but enjoyable series of vignettes pitting a woman and her younger self against their last day on earth. I think it very deftly shows what a "last day on earth" might actually feel like - reunions, coming together, and a lot of malaise. All of the cameos are really fun and for what it is, this is some good but not great light comedy.
A true piece of art!! And I Marvel movies!! lol
Movie is bad from the start. The acting is bad and the story lacks any elements to draw you in.
How It Ends is a strange film. Shot during the severe lockdown in 2020 in a very empty LA. It's lots of little vignettes stitched together about people coming to terms with an impending apocalypse. It's weird. I liked it.
Funny, charming, heartfelt and insightful. Excellent actors and just... Loved it!
A fantastic film about self-love executed in an awesome way with two power leads and man cameos that you will catch onto immediately. It's one of those movies that would be awesome to watch with friends and also alone with amazing comedic elements and some great laughs throughout that are woven well into the script. It does have flaws though with blander comedy at points and a very underdeveloped emotional attachment at times but it allows tears to jerk and create a wholesome atmosphere at the end of the world. Shot beautifully with some flaws seen here and there but a great structure that becomes better and better as the movie goes on.
If the goal was to make a 122 minute long movie that feels like it's 522 minutes long, they succeeded. Ooof.
Combination of an interesting premise and a somewhat simply written story. There isn't much in terms of the WOW factor, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Poorly scripted, very predictable lines. The fact that the critics voted this is 67% goes to show you how out of touch they are.
What the flip garbage did I just watch? I know it's a COVID movie and everybody is outside but man it's just a bad movie. It's just the main character and her walking around her neighborhood seeing all sorts of famous people as cameos. It's about the world going to end and what are you going to do before that. It just doesn't work for me. In the end the movie does have one emotional moment with the main character and her younger imaginary self but besides that, this star studded cameo fest lacks any real movie besides "hey we got famous people," watch this in COVID . But if your like me and watching it after COVID then the whole charm goes away.
