Myers maneuvers us through this thorny morality tale with mostly positive results.

There's a noble effort from the script to keep things moving in this twisty tale – and it mostly ends up working.

Real life is messy, true closure is a myth - but rarely more so than in this movie.

The tragic, interconnected nature of Human Capital doesn't break genre conventions, but it still proves utterly compelling thanks to an ensemble who deeply commit to the proceedings in a manner that other films aren't privileged enough to be afforded.

The American version of Human Capital (directed by Marc Meyers) is not as stylishly filmed as director Paolo Virzì's Italian version ... All of the actors do a very good job with their roles.

the film's effectiveness is undermined at various points by some questionable plot developments that strain credulity

At times too complicated for its own good, the screenplay juggles stories and perspectives as superb performances carry the day.
| Original Score: 9/10 | Apr 22, 2020
The efficient writing and effective direction is a bit too swift to let some of the plot points fully land, and it's tied up with far too neat a bow for such an otherwise complicated story.

While it might hold one's attention, the slow-moving multi-family soap opera is disappointing in the end.

Maya Hawke's work with Alex Wolf is what makes this worth watching.

There are some valuable messages in Human Capital.

Fine performances can't quite dispel this familiarity, but Meyers is an intriguing director, and it's clear to see where his interests lie between this and the underrated My Friend Dahmer.

Liev Schreiber and a fine cast elevate this multi-story film which has echoes of Oscar winning Best Picture "Crash".

The central puzzle is pleasing enough and there's some nice technical work but overall the film is too disconnected to make an emotional impact on an audience.

It's just good enough as a mystery to hold your interest, as you see events replayed from each character's point of view, and ponder their moral dilemmas. But the real draw is the astounding acting talent in every role.

All of these wonderful performances... Unfortunately, they're forced to speak every thought in the filmmakers' head about the haves and the have nots of society.

I think the performances were great and the concept was solid. It was engrossing, but ultimately the resolution to mystery feels a little unsatisfying.

This is a pretty darn good movie... I can't say enough about Liev Schreiber as an actor.

... struggles to tie its ideas together, as the varied perspectives don't add up to much in the end.

A fairly compelling character-driven indie drama with a great cast.
