Hyde Park on Hudson Reviews
Murray is quite terrific here, though his actual physical resemblance to FDR is modest at best.
| Original Score: 2.5/4.0 | Sep 11, 2020
Hyde Park on Hudson is a piece of badly-constructed fluff. The film is neither very comic nor does it have much value as an account of historical events.

May not be the fault of a visibly restrained Murray in the lead role, as the script gives him nothing to work with.

Hyde Park On The Hudson looks back on one weekend in history with the warmth and poignancy of an old family album; dusting off the pictures one more time, giving us a new and human look at one man who helped changed history.

[It] fall[s] flat on its feet due to a lack of plot structure and quality dialogue.
| Original Score: 1.5/5 | Nov 26, 2019
As adorable as Bill Murray may be, the ride feels low-rent, and the experience doesn't measure up to seeing Michelle Williams embody Marilyn Monroe.

If there is such a thing as Oscar porn, then Hyde Park on Hudson is as obscene as they come.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Jun 8, 2019
Presenting two parallel narratives about the importance of love and fraternity, Hyde Park on Hudson does a remarkable job of taking neither narrative strands particularly seriously.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Feb 9, 2019
Hyde Park on Hudson is delightful as a character study of historical personages negotiating an outwardly superficial situation that has potentially world-shaping consequences. As a fact-based romance, it simply fizzles out.

It seems there is no end of things to cringe at in this mess of a movie.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Dec 18, 2018
Jeremy Sams' mildly piquant score and the mannered characterizations would suggest, making this piece of awards bait more shameless than most.

Murray's screen presence is normally always welcome, however this time he is a victim, (as are the rest of the cast) of weak characterisation that never really delivers.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 23, 2018
As a snapshot, or a character study, or just an interesting historical anecdote, "Hyde Park on Hudson" worked beautifully on some levels, while failing on plenty of others.
| Aug 22, 2018
The entire film is quite funny, in fact, nothing like the sort of stuffy period piece it's dressed up as.
| Jun 21, 2016
Murray's FDR dominates the film the way Roosevelt towered over American politics for a decade and a half. That's not always a good thing, because the central character here is supposed to be FDR's sixth cousin Daisy (Laura Linney).

This pleasant drama offers little further insight but will help pass a Sunday afternoon nicely.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jun 7, 2016
The casting of Bill Murray as Franklin Delano Roosevelt is just one of many quirks that makes [the film] the enjoyable diversion that it is.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Apr 12, 2016
It was not well reviewed but I was won over by the film's gentle tone and Murray's easy-going benevolence and paternal affection as FDR.

A tedious affair about a tedious affair.

The performances across the board are strong, but it's Murray who's most impressive.
