I Am Heath Ledger Reviews
Such a beautiful soul taken way too soon.
Great documentary about a great actor. I always looked forward to his movies, and I do miss his presence.
Insightful, poignant and deeply touching, I Am Heath Ledger may only be one of many biopics out there at present, but if you ever wanted to know about the late actor behind the scenes, it's essential viewing. Ledger was one of the towering talents of his generation. His films affected millions and his charming, generous personality left an indelible mark on those who were closest to him, and this very much comes out in the film. Many clips and videos and photos shot by Heath himself are featured, and as random as they may be they provide a beautiful insight into the mind of the man himself. He had an insatiable lust for life and thirst for exploration. He approached everything so radically, forsaking convention and expectations and doing everything his own way. He was a true artist at heart, and the opinions of those who are interviewed attest to this. His childhood is mostly rushed over, but when you consider how incredible and dense his career was in such a short space of time, it makes sense to give it the most attention. As of writing this, Ledger has been gone for nearly 10 years, but what he achieved in his relatively short time on Earth is astounding. Heath captured the essence of life; this documentary captures the essence of him. A must-see for even his most casual fans.
Heart touching, envolving and funny, this might not be the Heath Ledger's life definitive documentary, but inside of what the filmmakers and Heath's friends and family were giving to the public, inside of what the movie was offering, "I Am Heath Ledger" is good informative movie about Heath's personality, dreams, creativity and virtues, as well as his exaggerated passion for his job. If only they explored more his death with the interviewed, the movie would have been perfect.
Well, if you grew up in the noughties (like myself) you knew his name and you knew the various roles he played in various films. Heath Ledger is nothing short of being a modern Australian legend who lived a wonderfully fulfilling and colourful life, but sadly left this world all too soon. This documentary sheds light on the late actor's life produced and interviewed by some of his most closest friends and family members. It even include various pieces of stock footage that Ledger himself filmed throughout his life, something I didn't know about his underlining passion for his own brand of video/film making efforts. While it's been 9 years since the late actor's death this film goes to show his legacy still endures as his undying passion for being alive. Overall this documentary is the definitive portrait of Ledger which both old and new generations can learn from, it was an insightful feel good facts trip into the life and times of Ledger as well as an endearing one to really get some intimacy on parts of his life the world already didn't know.
Interesante conocer un poco mas de la vida de este actor. Un futuro prometedor que se apago muy pronto
Great documentary about Heath Ledger! I honestly never thought he really wanted to play as a villain in a movie, now I know why his performance on "The Dark Knight" was so perfect! It also talks about his life outside of film making like making music videos and the other directors of his other films were being interviewed and was telling their honest opinion about Heath. Sad that he died, I could see him making alot more movies right now if he was still alive....
As a longtime fan of Heath, I can say this documentary sheds more light to the iconic actors life more than we never knew.
Inspiring and heartfelt look at the short, but fantastic career of a great young actor whose life was cut terribly short. I followed Heath's work and career as it unfolded, from The Patriot onward. His death was a shocking gut punch at just the moment when his work was in its prime with so much unfulfilled potential. While this doc just scrapes the surface of his life and doesn't delve much into darker, more personal areas that might make this film more well-rounded, I still really enjoyed the journey through what it did cover and it made me appreciate Heath's talent and artistry even more.
Loved the documentary about Heath Ledger. It's not entirely perfect, but it is a documentary every Heath Ledger fan should see. R.I.P. Heath Ledger 1979-2008
A refreshing look and celebration of the life of a wonderful actor rather than a cynical detective story of his untimely death. It's not a particularly deep documentary, and the lack of input from someone like Michelle Williams or Ledger's daughter is understandable but ultimately disappointing, but it sheds what may be a new light on a young man we were truly gifted to share 28 years with. The insight into his creative process and his pure love for what he did is more than enough to make it a worthwhile watch for anyone curious to learn more about Ledger's life as an actor.
Watching this movie is like getting a piece of Heath Ledger back briefly. What a talent who will forever be missed and forever wondered about what he would have become.
