I Am Mother Reviews
I thought the plot moved a little slow, and it was boring at times, but the practical effects were amazing, and the concept was compelling and disturbing. I definitely recommend it for sci-fi fans!
Excellent movie. If you love sci-fi, you can't miss this one.
Not enough oomph for 5 stars but definitely a solid 4. Had to think as the story progressed, which it does, but kind of out of balance. It finally gets to where it needs to go yet not in the commercial crowd pleaser format. It works. 👍
Besides exceptional efforts from the cast within impressive production essences, this sci-fi thriller suggests a unique apocalyptic scenario amid a solid worldbuilding practicing ambiguity with artificially converted motherhood at its core, wondering in conflicting suspense alongside the nurtured protagonist who delivers fresh remarks whilst weighing maternal responsibilities as the final turn’s decisive twist. (B+)
Enough plot twists to remain interesting, but there doesn't seem to be an overarching moral of the story.
You think you understand what's going on. Things change. You get a grip on the new direction. You're wrong, and the direction flips. Just as you're getting used to the new plot direction, you pull your legs up on the couch and start saying, "No, don't do it! DON'T DO IT!" I Am Mother is probably the best movie I've seen since Dances with Wolves and I cannot sing it's praises enough. Excellent story. Excellent premise. Excellent characters. Absolute win.
Not bad
amazing movie and a must-watch! makes you think if humanity will reach this point
I think some movies make you think too much, which isn't a good thing when its nearing bed time. Mother, for its budget, did things quite well. It had just enough of everything and is definitely worth a watch. At times it felt like a low budget film. And at others it felt like it had a huge budget. So if you average it out, it comes out way ahead, which is great! I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.
Very solid! Absolutely captivating! Thought provoking! Good score! Very well shot and acted! Phenomenal effects! It gets even better on the second viewing! Highly recommended!
Nice concept and very watchable. But some huge logic holes involving sentinent computers that are supposed to mother babies but suddenly don’t work while they are recharging, lack of monitoring equipment through the complex, lots of chances to ask questions that are never asked, etc… and an ending that ends far too easily without violence or retribution - yes the actual ending frame works, but more attention to the 5 minutes leading up to it could have made this a classic.
Slick production with good acting and a thought provoking storyline. Google the ending AFTER watching it - there was lots of stuff I didn't realise.
I didn't think it would be that good (most dystopian movies end up being very ordinary)... It's thought provoking in an unsettling way, and ended with a great twist. Very well written.
Way better than I was expecting. My soul was frequently grappling with complex quanderies to do with AI and trust, throughout the movie. It was written, directed and performed remarkably well I felt. The dynamics of trust and lying "for the greater good" and tribal loyalty to your own "kind" were all explored in a way in which I could tangibly feel the predicament to quite a profound degree. I often noticed the directing helped a lot with this too, capturing the emotion of a scene in the framing and choice of focus. Claire Ruggard as the daughter was also fantastic. Her reactions, at times, felt exactly fitting for the moment in a way that I couldn't quite envisage the emotion I was feeling until I saw it on her face. All in all a surprisingly good film. Steadily paced, thrilling at times, thought-provoking and captivating. Would warrant a second viewing, which is always a good sign.
The special effects are good, but the movie is a sad commentary on humanity. The problem is it's predictable even though the acting is good. I am troubled by the poor climatic ending - - - It really fails to make a point. The story line is clear, but really does not get to a message worth watching.
Pretty mid and predictable
Amazing creepy and original sci fi thriller.
I AM ANGRY! THAT KID BETRAYED HER AMAZING MOTHER AND THAT OUTSIDER OH DON'T GET ME STARTED 😤😤😤😤😡😡😡😡. It captured my anger/ bravo
It's a very engaging scifi movie with great visuals and a good story. Definitely worth the watch.
Great set design, great acting, complementary soundtrack, thought-provoking plot and theme. How about a sequel?
