I Do... Until I Don't Reviews
Never earns its laughs, lessons or length.

...refreshingly laidback...
| Dec 11, 2020
As a place for insightful thoughts and feelings about the complexities of marriage, it comes up short. The film's bigger crime is that the dialogue doesn't resemble actual human speech.

The plot is all over the place and soon loses any connection, with everything being neatly tied up at the end and not really making much sense.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 2, 2019
Bell constructs her comedy like a 103-minute episode of "Love, American Style" or "The Love Boat".
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Jun 13, 2019
The new indie rule would seem to be, why have something to say when having nothing to say is just as viable an option.

If you enjoy watching couples fight for 90 minutes, be my guest.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Dec 20, 2018
It leaves a lot to be desired and the pace of the movie doesn't help. [Full review in Spanish]
| Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 14, 2018
But the movie is disappointing both because it doesn't say anything new about relationships, and doesn't find a fresh way to say them.
| Dec 28, 2017
Bell is a generous writer, not keeping juicy lines to herself. I Do . . . Until I Don't fairly drips with them.
| Original Score: B | Dec 26, 2017
It's a good cast, and there are a few bits that generate a laugh or two, but the overall concept seems as dusty as a 1950s sitcom.
| Dec 18, 2017
Don't say yes to this mess.
| Nov 11, 2017
Bell's script, which becomes too chaotic and cluttered in weaving together its storylines, features some scattered laughs but not much authenticity or insight into contemporary relationships.
| Sep 8, 2017
Right down to that insipid, cutesy-poo title, I Do...Until I Don't plays like a succession of bullet-point clichs about love and sex and marriage that no one ever bothered to develop, connect together or base in any kind of reality.
| Original Score: 1/5 | Sep 8, 2017
One essential detail keeps I Do...Until I Don't on the rails: Bell's eye behind the lens.
| Original Score: 7.2/10 | Sep 8, 2017
Why would Lake Bell deliver the kind of trite, annoying rom-com the major studios gave up making long ago?
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Sep 5, 2017
It soon enough settles into a predictable sub-Love Actually ensemble piece in which none of the individual stories are fleshed out enough to be of much interest. To note that this was made by What's the Point Productions is just too easy.
| Sep 5, 2017
Delivers a warmly satisfying resolution without showing how it gets there.

As the writer-director-star of "In a World ...," Lake Bell delivered one of the most underrated comedies of 2013. So expectations are high for her three-hat follow-up, "I Do ... Until I Don't." But the dreaded sophomore slump hits, and hits her hard.
| Original Score: C | Sep 2, 2017
Bell's film ends up stuck between being a standard audience-pleaser and something more subversive. For a movie about marriage, you wish it would commit one way or the other.
