I Feel Pretty Reviews
Amy is so funny in her movies making fun of herself. I love it. Very funny.
Amy is insufferable. Do not watch
A good sense of humor with a good message!
I enjoyed this movie more than I thought that I would. Amy Schumer's personality can be grating at times, but she wasn't terrible in this one. I don't know if she has the chops to be a leading lady, but she clearly put her best foot forward. The message is positive, the premise is quirky and there were some enjoyable moments throughout. The majority of the film is forgettable and all blends together, but I liked most of it. There aren't very many "stand out" moments that you leave the movie remembering, which is probably its biggest flaw. My girl is the most beautiful in this world!
Me sentí identificada, me deja un bonito mensaje de que todo están en nuestra mente
I think critics really missed the mark on this one! And I'm sad that I became acquainted with this movie after RomCom Madness had already begun. This is far from my favorite movie genre, but this was a shocking surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed. Not unlike last year's BRITTANY RUNS A MARATHON, this movie tackled subjects including weight issues and low self esteem that hit really close to home, making it a very personal and even occasionally moving experience for me. And I think Schumer's Renee Bennett is one of the best romantic comedy characters in a long time. I also loved the very subtle and unexpected romantic relationship between Schumer and Rory Scovel, who gives a very lived-in and low-key performance - definitely not your average romantic hero. And it's a treat to see Williams lighten up from her normal dramatic fare - her Minnie Mouse on helium voice made me laugh throughout the film. There's a lot to enjoy here, and Schumer comes across just as strongly here as she did in TRAINWRECK.
Amy Schumer: I feel pretty Everyone else: You are not (not funny either)
This is a light and humorous film, the main idea is that women should believe in themselves, no matter what kind of body, with confidence will be able to succeed. Of course, there are many logical loopholes in the movie, such as the fact that Renee can quietly go to the new product launch party to speak, which is impossible in reality. The good thing about this movie is that Renee is always playing alone, but she thinks she's beautiful. The audience sees the same person, and she really feels professional and beautiful when she's confident. In fact, it is not only the body, no matter what shortcomings or defects we can not change, we should believe in ourselves. No one is perfect. Confidence will do more with less. It's a movie to cheer up the girls. It's a movie to watch when you're disappointed in yourself.
I enjoyed this movie alott. It felt like watching a movie from the year 2000's.
This somewhat silly movie makes a BIG point. I would recommend it to anyone who suffers from low self-esteem. Thank you Amy.
Luckily I watched this in russian which saved me from the worst of her irritating voice, and secondly her fornication jokes were rendered in a more palatable way
Good for when you don’t want to think about anything and have a bit of a giggle
I haven't watched the film, I just know Amy Schumers in it so I'm assuming its bad
Loved the way that this movie brought this theme. Girls are getting paranoid with beauty and fake social media life...depression is serious! It was about time to change the modelling world. Love this movie and would recommend to everyone!
I Feel Pretty has a great layout for what it could do, but never actually achieves it. That's the main problem of the movie. It feels like it doesn't know what to do with the plot which leads the movie to become very drawn out and sometimes boring. Some parts of the film feel like things just happen out of nowhere only to progress the story. There is no reasoning for some of the choices the characters make which makes the film seem off in certain moments. The movie switches from being good to being iffy every 20 minutes leaving the film to feel inconsistent. This film is also way too long. The filmmakers could have easily cut 15-20 minutes of the movie and make it a solid 90-minute movie. This ties into the random part as a lot of the scenes in this film feel so long. It's like the filmmakers didn't know how to end a scene so they just kept it going until it randomly cuts to the next scene. It also doesn't help that some of the jokes don't land as well as they should. I found some parts to be funny, but some of it felt like the actors and writers were trying too hard. Despite those main problems, I do have to say that the message in the film is quite nice and has an empowering ending. Amy Schumer does a great job telling the message of rising above the hate and becoming more confident with yourself. Even if that whole realization moment seems a bit overdone and predictable, Schumer knows how to put her own spin on it. It helps that a great score by Michael Andrews powers behind some inspiring moments in the film. The cast does a good job here with Schumer knowing how to handle the role. Rory Scovel also does a great job here even when his character was poorly handled in the script department. Michelle Williams and Tom Hopper are also fun to watch in the little roles they have. I guess that leads me to the overall problem with the film: everything feels undeveloped. Even with the great message at the end, most of the characters and almost all of the story feel so underdeveloped with no uniqueness to it. With a better script, this film could have been something really special. I do think that even with all the flaws in I Feel Pretty, there is something there that isn't entirely bad. I just wish that the filmmakers knew how to fully flesh out the story. Read more reviews like this at postcreditreviews.com
Here's a note, Hollyweird, when you hafta pause the film to explain to your kid, "The premise is that she's ugly-" and your kid just shoots you a horrified look of disbelief and you hafta "Hollywood thinks that's ugly, even though we can't see that-" and your kid just "Turn. This. Off." over and over until she ultimately leaves the room because you "No! I have to make it through to study this, and confirm it's as evil as you intrinsically know it is as someone new to this world!" Michelle Williams was the only comedic relief in this one for me, she did a great voice, and I was sad she had to use it in such a horrible film. I think Williams should be tapped to play more comedic roles, as she was so great here. I also think Aidy Bryant did a great job not murdering Schumer for putting her in such a substandard role, although sometimes you could see it in her eyes, as if she was secretly figuring out how to reestablish her feminism after taking part in this we're-all-too-progressive-to-make-this-NOW-comedy-not-comedy.
This comedy has noble intentions and tries to offer a message of body positivity and self-acceptance. However, it falls too short on its ambitions, as its stereotypical and crude jokes about body shaming highly contradict its message, its characters are annoying, and its plot is muddled and formulaic. It's a huge waste of talent for Amy Schumer and a potentially interesting idea executed without any sort of competence, nuance or care.
While I agree that people should be happy in their own skin I really don't understand this body positivity movement. The message I took from this movie was that we just need to have confidence to succeed and weight and beauty isn't all that important. However, I think that's a bit of a false statement. When I haven't worked out in a week or two I start to feel physically exhausted and mentally worn out. I think a better message for our youth and general public would be that you can love yourself but want to change some of your attributes. Other than that it was an ok movie with a couple laughs sprinkled in.
