Ingrid Goes West Reviews
Solid offbeat comedy from 2017 that is still just as relevant today as it confirms what the majority of folks already knew - most people on social media are certifiably insane. Gotta love a movie that brings truths to light.
I'm not interested in the characters in the slightest
Making fun out of stalking is not funny. Too many idiots out there will take this as ok to stalk people. Aubrey Biach ruins another movie.
Solid 4 stars, comedy & stark satire of influencer culture & those they influence. Aubrey & Olsen are hot 🥵 af in this.
There are some great performances and funny moments that hide a rather endearing story.
Ingrid gose west was a relatibile movie. It makes you think about things you have done in your life. Aubry Plaza dose a amazing job at portraying a girl whos lost in her own world. Aubry and Elisibeth have amazing chemistry and both play there character very well. I recommend watching and will rewatch it.
story about the girl who doesn't really know who she is, lost among pretty instagram pictures and stories, people pretending to be who they are not, full of loneliness and willingness to belong. using the wrong means.
Glad to see there are still low budget movies being made.Aubrey Plaza is making some of the best of them. This movie and Emily the Criminal are both good movies.
So many indie dramadies are aimless and leave you wanting *less*, so it was nice for a change to be left wanting more.
Characters choice’s are very good and they did well
I feel same as the Ingrid’s. Everyone should do what they want. The movie shows it very well.
Came across this last night and loved it. Cannot believe it has been out since 2017. I love dark Comedy and this hits all the spots!
Very enjoyable haha . She's a star I remember thinking back then
Endearing and creepy.
Often savage, and Aubrey Plaza's performance is fearless. I do wish the satire was a bit more focused.
Ingrid has lost her mother and is living a hohum existence via Instagram So she sets out to California to meet her idol Taylor Sloane She feels if she befriends her becoming a part of her online lifestyle she can truly belong and matter But the facade begins to crack showing Ingrid for who she really is, Taylor becomes very uncomfortable finding out her true intentions Still love Aubrey Plaza so much in this black comedy And Elizabeth Olsen rocks too A rough journey of a woman who desperately wants to matter even going so far to meet her idol on Instagram Yet the world of social media is hard depending on how many likes you get from the public It can either determine your worth or not It delivers smart, topical humor underlined by timely social observations You can either gain support or hate whatever the actions or decisions you make
How in the heck does this have such high ratings? It's awful! Some of the actors are decent, but others are pretty bad. But the plot is just horrendous, absolutely horrendous. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I've got a believe there's some conspiracy that got this to have a high rating. It wasn't even worth watching on the airplane.
NOT a dark comedy IMO. Well made, reasonably well acted. The protagonist is a mentally unbalanced, and dangerous, person. She is addicted to social media, and the movie does a good job of showing the 'unreality' of instagram etc. , definitely a subject worthy of exploration. Some call this movie a dark comedy, but not me. I would give the movie one more star if it presents as a DRAMA, rather than a dark comedy. Nothing funny to me about a deranged person (protagonist) throwing acid at a bride at her wedding because she didn't invite this person to the wedding, even though they don't actually know each other, the protagonist just 'likes' the bride's posts.
C- The whole obsession/stalker behaviour was fun to watch for a while but the movie felt very underwhelming as it went on. started on a high but didn't climax at all. The lead and her boyfriend were great though and i chuckled a bit at their interaction but still, even they couldn't save the trainwreck of a film.
Mucho mejor de lo que esperaba, un gran hallazgo. En ningún momento sabes para donde va a ir, los malos movimientos de la protagonista sencillamente te llevan. Graciosa y divertida pero a la vez algo trágica y triste.
