Insidious: Chapter 3 Reviews
Much like the Saw or Paranormal Activity franchises, the stories have run out but the filmmakers cannot resist making another sequel.

The tension building was amazing.

Completely middle of the road in every conceivable way.

Insidious: Chapter 3 is a big improvement on the weak Chapter 2.

'Insidious: Chapter 3' is the worst installment of the saga to date. [Full Review in Spanish]

Whannell repeats situations using jump scares with no care for the atmosphere that Wan portrayed so well, and much less any concern for the composition of the scenes. [Full Review in Spanish]

Insidious 3 mostly works quite well. It easily outdoes the dire second installment, ramping up the tension from the outset and refusing to let go.

Nothing more than a trip through a disappointing haunted house at a local carnival.

Insidious: Chapter 3 was very successful in the sense that it delivered the scares and kept your eyes glued to the screen.

It's clear that first-time director Whannell is interested in making something that feels like its own thing while still being part of the universe he created.

The further world always has been my favourite part of the Insidious series and this case was no exception. The cinematography and aesthetic feel of these films is what drew me in in the first place.

If you enjoy horror films that aren't too gory, but are scary in a fun sort of way, you're going to be thoroughly entertained by this film.

Manages to deliver a decent film with some strong scares, yet certain moments will feel like a haunted trip you've already taken one too many times before.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Apr 11, 2018
Chapter 3 is still mostly too enamored by the lousy lore it stubbornly latches on, making it a less effective scarer than it imagines itself to be.

Insidious: Chapter 3 deals with the tragedy of lost loved ones and finding the strength to move on, but does so with a cast of likable characters all defined by good performances

Save for a few "boo" moments, it is hardly unnerving. I yawned midway through the film. For a horror flick, that's not a good thing at all.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Sep 20, 2017
A big ol' sack of dull.

Insidious: Chapter 3 may be a slight improvement over the previous sequel, but with its continued over-reliance on jump scares and a basic, repetitive plot, it merely becomes another chapter that will leave horror fans unsatisfied.
