Intermission Reviews
Well acted, the story does keeps your interested, lots of Dublin in the early 2000s. Just doesn’t do much for me
Love absolutely everything about it. It's pure Dublin humour & I don't doubt it's gonna go down as a cult classic. Fantastic film & hilarious 😂
Basically it's a film about cretinous dickheads.
I really enjoyed it. Interesting interweaving of story lines. Murphy was very good but I thought Meaney was better. Overall, a great cast. Very watchable, more so if you are a Dub. Would have liked to seen the stone throwing gurrier get hit by a bus after he threw his final stone.
Intermission is filled with characters in search of something, from love to their own perceived or real shortcomings to a myriad of other issues. The cast is huge and the storylines are plentiful, all mixed together to create a tapestry of day-to-day life. While the vast majority of the characters are either painfully shallow, inherently evil or horribly irresponsible, they are, for the most part, likable and easily relatable, which seems to be the appeal to the film. Thanks to some snappy dialogue and strong performances from Colin Farrell, Kelly MacDonald and Colm Meaney in their small roles, the movie, if you can overlook some dizzying camerawork and choppy editing, is a joy to watch.
Great watch. Hysterical and entertaining. Only one qualm with this one was the constant camera zoom ins and overall shaky filming. I found that aspect quite distracting, but the movie as a whole was worth a viewing or two. A great script with great actors is always a win. I continue to be impressed by the hilarious yet realistic dialogue and stories of Mark O'Rowe. Overall, a funny movie with a heightened comedic value that will stand out from your average film.
A raucous story of the interweaving lives and loves of small-town delinquents, shady cops, pretty good girls and very bad boys. With Irish guts and grit, lives collide, preconceptions shatter and romance is tested to the extreme. An ill-timed and poorly executed couple's break-up sets off a chain of events affecting everyone in town. There's the hapless romantic and his sex-starved best friend, the hotshot detective and the crook he's after, a young girl on the rebound with an older married man--not to mention his deserted wife, an ambitious 온라인카지노추천 producer, an abandoned fiancée, a preteen trouble-maker--all of whom are unaware of how their choices are profoundly intertwined... "Intermission" earned 2.5 million at the Irish box office, briefly becoming the most successful independent Irish film. The film was well received by critics. Rotten Tomatoes critical consensus describing the film as "An edgy and energetic ensemble story". Noted critics Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper gave the film good reviews. Roeper described it as "a likable film about nasty people". Patrick Condren became the first Irishman to be nominated at the Taurus World Stunt Awards following his work in the film. In the biggest single stunt ever filmed in Ireland, a double-decker bus was flipped 20 metres into the air. This Irish black comedy/crime/love film is trying to be a bit like "Short Cuts" with intertwined storylines for the characters, but it doesn´t manage to be as intriguing, despite a strong cast with Colin Farrell, Cillian Murphy, Kelly Macdonald etc. I saw this film in 2003 when it came out, and I can´t say it has aged all that well. Vague direction, wobbly editing, jumpy story and I really don´t like all the handheld camera shots with way too many closeups. "Intermission" is not bad, but not that good either. It´s in the middle somewhere.
One of those many stories with a united thread films that are so popular right now, done by the Irish this time. Could they make an Irish movie without Colm Meaney? Who would want to? An interesting film.
A motley crew of losers, wasters and psychopaths have-it-out in the suburbs of Dublin. A terrific assembled cast and a clever engaging story--Refreshing escape from the mainstream!!
There is a subplot for every of the several characters in this minor masterpiece. And every one of the characters' stories eventually is linked to the others'. It's only been three years since I saw first saw "Intermission," but the goings-on are so convoluted that it was like watching it for the first time. I remembered little from my first viewing, except that I liked it a lot and laughed a lot. It will probably be less than three years before I give this gem another go. If you are partial to dark comedies with a heart of gold, your time will be well-spent on "Intermission."
Review: I loved the beginning of this movie. Colin Farrell's character was excellent in this film but its a shame that he isn't in it more. There's many different stories to follow which all come together during the end. The director done well to mix up the comedy with a romance undertone, but it all looked like it was who on the cheap. Whilst watching the movie, I was wondering were the hell the director was going to go with the plot, but when it all comes together it turns out to be quite funny. All of the actors out in good performances, but its Farrell's character that stands out from the rest. In all, its a decent watch with many twists and turns. Watchable! Round-Up: Judging by the budget, I thought that the director done well with putting this project together. You don't actually realise how much ground it covers until the end of the movie when you piece it all together. I didn't really know what to expect before I watched the movie, which was why I enjoyed it more. You will definitely find something in this movie that will make you laugh. Budget: $5million Worldwide Gross: $4.8million I recommend this movie to people who are into there Irish comedies with a bit of something for everyone. 5/10
A darkly funny Irish ensemble piece. The intertwining stories are sometimes absurd but not particularly hard to follow, and the humor is great if you are not offended easily - the opening scene sets the tone. Excellent cast delivers superb performances, and the characters are likable enough to engage the viewer.
An adrenaline filled Irish working class crime comedy drama about a series of coincidence that bring together the lives of of a small group of people living in Dublin. The film brings together laugh out loud comedy and ordinary everyday tragedy with violence and crude 'in your face' imagery in a style that is quite a trend setter for a new and an emerging Irish cinema.
I see this one rated high but it seemed a lot of irrelevant skits pushed together to make a story. I don't know what everyone sees in it.
