Into the Forest Reviews
"Into The Forest" follows two sisters surviving an apocalyptic world in their secluded forest house. Amidst the turmoil of events, we see both sisters going through a series of challenges that put their friendship into the test. A low-budget movie with plenty of substance and tenderness!
I have never seen any two people have so many problems in their lives. The movie attempts unsuccessfully to pull at heart strings and I'm not impressed. A average, completely forgettable movie.
Sounded like it had promise, but altogether dumb across the board. Disappointing.
Decent, apocalyptic, survival thriller.
A poorly written story with an incredibly stupid ending.
Anyone who gave this movie anything above 2 stars should have their head checked. 5 stars???? i'm looking at you Chelsea M. Seek Help I pretty much knew right away by how much dancing they kept showing, that there wasn't going to be any substance to this movie. Elliot Paige is the only thing that made this movie remotely tolerable. Her performance was good. Rachel seemed wooden and stupid, but honestly i think thats just due to a terrible script. I kind of wish Elliot paige didn't act so well, because i would have turned it off earlier. I turned it off at about 40 mins, and i'm glad I did after reading the rest of the plot synopsis. Nothing about the actions of the characters in this movie are realistic. My wife had tuned out around 20 minutes in, but the plot starts off interesting enough that it hooked me for a little longer. This movie's pacing is terrible, and it sucks. Just flat out sucked
I love both Page and Wood (would have given half a star otherwise), but this movie was awful. Terrible script, excruciatingly slow pacing, bland characters, and it's one of those movies where the characters make horrible, unrealistic decisions for no reason but to make the plot interesting (which it doesn't). Skip this one for sure
Two sister struggle to survive during the early stages of the world ending and the third act keeps this film from being good.
Page and Wood are just fine here, but this is one of those films where viewers often find themselves shouting frustratingly at the screen as characters do things that people would never actually do except in the service of a weak and manipulative movie screenplay. For example, the two sisters use the last of their precious gasoline to needlessly burn down their childhood home and shelter (during a rainstorm!) without any plan for their subsequent survival and wellbeing. Another example: note that the two sisters are inseparable up until one particular point when they're conveniently divided for no other reason than to provide an opportunity for one to be attacked by a stranger during the absence of the other. Let's face it, most paranoid Americans would be panicking big time should they find themselves without power after only a single day or two let alone many months. However, this family doesn't appear to take the emergency very seriously much of the time so, how can we? In fact, their first visit to their nearby town (after 10 days without power!) is not to check on family, friends or neighbors, but to engage in social activities such as the elder sister's regular dance class! You would think that there would be a few more practical considerations for them to concern themselves with! Skip this one and rather check out The Trigger Effect for a suspenseful, and more believable take on the effects of an extended power outage on one small town.
Living off the grid fans will appreciate this, what kind of apocalyptic is this? Long-winding within a box, throw everything at the wall hope it sticks.
Starts out with an interesting enough premise for awhile but doesn't really go anywhere, literally, or address the bigger picture at all as it becomes about little more than a baby being born in these circumstances.
Their father fatally injures himself in a freak chainsaw accident then the two sisters are like "yea, lets not try to get any help or even find out if theres a doctor to do a post mortem, or contact the police, or bring the body indoors and wrap it in a sheet or something while we think what to do. lets just get some shovels and bury him right here and now" I just turned off the movie after i saw this part, so stupid and dumb. Doesnt the director or writer know how human life works or something?!? Omg so stupid hahahaha
It's a cute movie, however some things don't make any sense.
Starts off like most apocalyptic movies, by the loss of basic amenities like power, two sisters find themselves alone attempting to come to terms with the reality of their new existence. There are some difficult to watch scenes, but Paige and Wood put in some beautiful performances that make you feel like you are living it with them.
Overly pretentious garbage
Started out pretty good. Remained in 1st gear throughout the majority of the movie. Kept waiting for something to happen other than a crazed dancer balling over not having music. Then something happened to boost this sleeper another star. But when they burned the house down? They lost a star. Who does that anyway? Could have used the house's resources to stay alive a bit longer. 👎👎
I watch a good many dystopian/apocalyptic type movies and this one I liked a lot. It's about two of the almost luckiest girls in the world who are pretty smart but also very stupid. But what do I know? I haven't lived through an apocalyptic event and I'd surely make stupider decisions. The scenery is lovely and the dialogue and situations are pretty realistic. I recommend this movie if you're a fan of the genre — a warning though, avoid it if you are triggered by sexual violence depicted on screen.
