Invincible Reviews
Solid, feel good movie.
FLY EAGLES FLY Just like Vince Papale, this movie has a ton of heart. A true underdog story, it's impossible to not root for this guy. Invincible checks all the boxes for the cliche sports movie, and I love it. Seeing the little boy with 83 taped to his back, pointing to his friends in the stadium, "Papale at the 40, the 30...", there are multiple moments that gave me the chills. While the stakes don't ever feel very high and the drama doesn't always pay off, this is a feel-good film that I could watch any Sunday with my family. Best Character: Janet Best Quote: When I told you not to get your hopes up... didn't mean that I wasn't." - Frank Papale Best Scene: The finale
Based on the life of Vince Papale who was a player for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1976 to 1978 and starring Mark Wahlberg as Vince. This is an uplifting movie with a good performance from Mark Wahlberg. Greg Kinnear and Elizabeth Banks also do a good acting job, the rest of the cast is forgettable. There are some interesting uses of computer graphics in this movie as they portray real life football stars from the era, but never come so close to see their faces. I feel the finale is unique as it is about the second game of the season instead of a bigger game like the Super Bowl or an important game to the season. It does work well though. I think there is enough good stuff here to recommend a viewing.
A great family watch, a great NFL story, casting was fantastic.
80/100 - a solid film and a classic at that. mark whalberg plays the role well. almost on par with the film The Replacements, another football film starring Keanu Reeves.
Incredible movie, one of my favourite film of all time.
A brilliant film, this film highlighted a true story of a young man's struggles with rising to greatness as a local lad and the difficulty in carrying the expectation of a whole town/city on his shoulders, it was subtle and didn't oversell a true story, one of my favourite sporting films based on a true story, recommended!
The greatest 01 hour: and 44 minutes based on the true-life story of how a Philadelphia bartender won as a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool story. Fun watch and good acting
It might have its share of cheesy moments and, in my opinion at least, is weaker than fellow Disney sports biopics Remember the Titans and McFarland, USA but Invincible is still a well-acted, competently directed, inspired film with a gritty visual look that lets it stand out from other sports biopics. Worth at least one watch.
It'll really make you want to see a game after this cunning story of Vince Papale.

Remember when films were good, with great acting and a faithful rendition of the story? That's this film, walberg plays his part amazingly and you feel his every struggle. Well worth the watch, no agenda, no 2020 or 2021 politics. Just a great film.
It doesn't matter how old or young you are to play the sport you can still feel invincible Mark Whalberg, Elizabeth Banks, Greg Kinnear, and Kirk Acevedo Vincent Papale only played one year of high school football At 30 years old he decided to compete for the Philadelphia Eagles Many only saw him as a teacher at his high school in Pennsylvania, he was then let go and lost his girlfriend Sharon as well as his apartment But Vincent decided to try out despite him being older than usual Minus being a kicker he soon became the oldest rookie in NFL history in 1976 This is really standard sports drama stuff Nothing that really screams cinema-treatment Feels more like straight-to-television But mark whalberg's performance is worthy
this movie tells a good story of a determined football player and Mark Wahlberg is perfect as a football player showing his talent and determination as Vince Papale.
Great movie, it gets 16 Oscars for Best Original Song!
A movie that I keep going back to, for its authenticity and uplifting story, as well as its unlikely-but-well-acted Mark Wahlberg football footage. The real Vince P is 6'2", 202 lbs... Mark W is 5'6", 170ish? So there's a bit of a stretch seeing Mark taking on NFL linebackers. But otherwise the movie is a terrific tribute to the 70's, the NFL and the possible.
Missing an extra bit of punch, but 'Invincible' is another strong sports drama from Disney. Mark Wahlberg is a great choice to play Vince Papale, who this film is based on. I enjoyed following his character's arc, it is a predictable one but it still produces a load of heart. Greg Kinnear (Dick Vermeil) and Elizabeth Banks (Janet) add a good amount with their supporting roles. I also like those who play Papale's friends, Michael Kelly being one. It takes the usual liberties with what actually happened in real life, but that's not important to me. All I care about is how the film comes out, and this produces a very enjoyable film. I'd recommend it.
