Isle of Dogs Reviews
It's a great kids movie that adults can enjoy. Very funny but the stop-motion animation is really cool too.
Buena película de stop motion me gustó
Charming and beautiful in only the way Wes Anderson can do.
Probably the best stop motion you're ever going to see on the big screen. Funny and wicked with Anderson style dark humor. His signature style of directing pairs perfectly with stop motion. A great cast as usual.
Great casting. Awesome plot. A movie you will enjoy watching again.
Didn’t care for the annoying “white savior” afro-wearing white girl aggressively overshadowing her Japanese classmates and especially the female Japanese scientist character, the bizarrely rushed “romance” between the white girl and the protagonist Atari, the brushed off murdering of the prison guards, the corny ending of the kids running the city, somewhat hit/miss dialogue & humor, and the overly familiar narrative. Despite all those flaws, I absolutely adore the film’s visuals, art direction/production, score, cast, main characters (excluding the previously mentioned annoying white girl), and the overall unique quirky Wes Anderson charm. Wes Anderson’s fantastic directing transforms an overdone narrative trop into a wonderful piece of art overall.
woof !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wes Anderson has a distinct directing style, with a uniquely dry sense of humor. This style lent itself well to animation, as proven in 2009's "Fantastic Mr. Fox". That one set the groundwork for what Anderson could bring to the world of animation. "Isle of Dogs" continues on that path but does fall short of its predecessor's trajectory. The movie follows the POV of a group of dogs on the eponymous Isle, as they try to help a human boy that arrives. In an odd, very Wes Anderson choice, the dogs all speak English, (all voiced by Anderson's usual crew) but the humans speak Japanese. There isn't much of a story in Isle of Dogs. Perhaps I should rephrase, there is a lot of story going on, it just doesn't really concern the journey of our main protagonists. Where "Fantastic Mr. Fox" made Wes Anderson fans out of anyone who watched it, "Isle of Dogs" will be loved by Anderson fans, but won't necessarily win over any newcomers.
What an interesting film, the pace of this movie is so perfect and the dialogue is so fun, the use of language to alienate humans is ingenious and inspired. This movie highlights the importance of pets through amazing animation and an exciting story that I wish would never end.
Teamwork Justice Leadership
Very, very good. Interesting topics, great animations.
Isle of Dogs is one of Wes Anderson's best movies, an imaginative and amusing travelogue through incredible settings, populated by wonderful characters, with a lot of heart and even a little insight.
Look as much as I love Fantastic Mr. Fox, I don’t really know about Isle of Dogs honestly. There’s just so little to talk about. As much as I love Bryan Cranston as the main dog, I didn’t really find the Edward Norton, Bob Balaban, Jeff Goldblum, and Bill Murray to be interesting as their characters. Plus, it’s such a very slow movie. Barely anything interesting happens. There this subplot that goes nowhere and adds nothing about a foreign exchange student trying to sue the Japanese for the dogs being on the island. I didn’t really care for that. Also all the main characters are the worst (except for Bryan Cranstons character) they’re incredibly rude, disrespectful, and I didn’t really see a reason to care about them. 3/10
Enjoyable movie. Modern day classic.
My favorite of the Wes Anderson movies!
I like how Wes Anderson’s style translates to stop-motion, but Isle Of Dogs just didn’t capture my attention.
esta pelicula es reflexiba pero es muy zzz, a todo gas es mejor
It may fall victim to some of Wes Anderson's worst traits as a director and storyteller, but 'Isle of Dogs' charms with its sense of oriental style and winningly simplistic plot.
