Jackpot! Reviews
Passible mindless watch. Annoying characters with loads of cinematic goofs (i.e moments when the protaganists clearly are leaving time for the supportt to catch up). Overall plot was ok but poorly executed
Perfect to have one while on the treadmill or washing clothes as it is the dumbest plot and most ridiculous action scenes where I was rooting for the mob to kill the main characters.
*Jackpot!* is exactly what you expect—no more, no less. Paul Feig delivers his signature fun, and with a cast like this, how could I not be entertained? John Cena and Simu Liu? Instant win. The story is as thin as paper, but who cares when the action and comedy hit just right? The fight scenes are a blast, the humor keeps things moving, and it never pretends to be anything deeper. It’s the perfect cosy Sunday film—pure, unfiltered, turn-off-your-brain fun. If you're here for high art, look elsewhere. If you're here for a good time, you've hit the jackpot.
In Cali, you have 24 hours to kill the lottery winner and take the money for yourself. Akwafina is an unsuspecting winner, but the slapstick runs thin after a while.
This might have been an entertaining short film if it didn’t last past 6 minutes because that’s about how far you can stretch this premise. But give it to Paul Feig for being consistent in taking a shallow premise and adding even shallower comedy across a landscape of weirdly unwatchable action sequences that try too hard and deliver too little, while having it all stewing in unredeemable Hollywood cynicism. Few films remind you that cinema can be a serious waste of hours in a human life, offering less than what one can get from contemplating paint peel. At least you have more parts of your brain working in the excercise then watching this brain numbing abuse of stunt performers.
It is a bit of fun and take it for what it is, just have fun watching it.
The script was enjoyable but the aesthetic was a little jarring. Perhaps if they'd gone a little steampunk, or cyberpunk, it might have been more digestible.
Loved it! Comedy and action in one! Laugh a minute! Very different to other movies!
John Cena and Akwafina are becoming my favorite actors. Specially the latter. She’s hilarious. On future California. Lottery jackpot winners win only if they survive until sundown. That is if no one kills them before since the killer would actually win the jackpot. Pretty funny movie 🍿🍿🍿🍿/5 on Prime
A fairly goofy satiric comedy with a dark plot. I wish it took the plot line deeper. I thought the dialogue was hilarious, if superficial. Awkwafina and John Cena had great chemistry.
This movie is an absolute blast from start to finish!
This was a fun ride movie. Hilarious action I love it. John Cena has been coming incredible actor. He's good and comedy and action. Awkwafina has become a good actor in my heart. I hope she goes on to do more incredible thing.
Jackpot is an absolute blast, and easily John Cena’s best film to date. He fully embraces the comedy, showcasing impressive timing and charisma beyond his usual action-hero roles. The plot is fast-paced, full of hilarious twists, and Cena’s performance shines alongside a strong supporting cast. It’s a fun, wild ride that proves Cena is more than just an action star—he’s a comedic force to be reckoned with.
Awkwafina funny as always, John Cena always a joy to see. Movie premise is dark but accurate of what would actually happen... Sadly.. humans are greedy & evil. Lots of crazy funny moments, watch if you're in the mood for a ridiculous movie.
The movie was exciting and fun-filled. The vulgarity was inexcessive and used appropriately. Very good.
“The least believable thing about this movie is how quickly they get across LA.” @stephczach Also Steph, “Dang Stifler aged really well. He looks great.” “The Purge but it’s a PG-13 comedy star vehicle for Awkwafina / Cena. Id buy that.” “… dang this movies got jokes.” “Did they do this because Shang-Chi 2 got canceled?” “I think I lost brain cells watching this but I don’t hate it.” “80 minutes is tight. 80 minute movies don’t have to apologize..” Jackpot is not gonna become a classic, but the slapstick stupidity, charming cast and modern jokes can’t be denied. It feels like a scrappy budget movie for streaming and it far outperforms those initial vibes. It feels like a dvd you’d share with all your buddies in 2005. It feels like a work night movie we haven’t had in years. It rides those good vibes to success despite being a truly dumb movie. B
As far as entertainment value, it delivers. It's a fun movie. It moves fast, there are no boring parts, and it gets right to the thick of things.
This is genuinely the worst movie I’ve watched my whole life.
It was a damn good movie laughed the whole way through what else do you want from a comedy
I won’t lie here, but i somewhat enjoy John Cena movies. I don’t tend to think they’re the greatest movies ever, but they’re somewhat like comfort movies that make me laugh.. But this, i had to shut off about 25-30 minutes in. I couldn’t handle the over exasperation of trying to have a “great” movie. Could not get with some of the dialogue between characters. Would not recommend..
