Jethica Reviews
Jethica is largely a beautifully cinematic expression of loneliness and the inbetween.

Pete Ohs’ Jethica expands the possibilities of cinema. More of an innovative genre mashup than a traditional slow burn thriller, the 72-minute flick comedically addresses a serious topic — stalking — while exploring the emotional lives of ghosts.

I recommend Jethica to anyone who enjoys stunning scenery, a somewhat throwback film style, good performances from the leads, an unnerving depiction of stalking, and some comedic moments throughout.

If it doesn’t stick the landing exactly, it’s so interesting to watch the cast and crew stitch this odd work together that you might not mind.

It's a ridiculous film, hardly making sense, but I immensely enjoyed its weirdness.

Ohs dresses up a haunting parable about stalking and harassment in the comforts of a wry supernatural thriller that makes a subtle statement about the real life horrors women live with every day.

Jethica is a mumblegore film that meanders through a rather uneventful plot.

With its stark action and its clever techniques, the director Pete Ohs’s off-kilter ghost story has an old-fashioned, downbeat allure; it plays like a modern update on a Hollywood B-movie.

A horror-comedy that doesn’t offer much in the way of scares or laughs but is strangely fascinating regardless.

Clever, accomplished, and has a distinct sensibility of its own...

...has the freshness of a micro-budget film that relies on creativity and ingenuity to make up for a lack of financial resources.

A brazenly odd yet gently appealing horror-comedy...

Despite running a mere 72 minutes, Jethica’s story comes full circle in a way that feels incredibly satisfying.

Seeing how Ohs and company achieve [their] success on a small indie budget while subverting genre conventions might be worth having to sit through [a rather egregious] blunder.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Feb 10, 2023
Though not entirely successful, Jethica is a bold attempt to do something different. It’s a film with a distinct personality which some viewers will fall in love with and which no-one will quickly forget.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Feb 6, 2023
Jethica balances itself admirably, fitting alongside fellow kooky ghost stories, A Ghost Waits and The Jessica Cabin.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Feb 6, 2023
Horror elements are mixed with deadpan humor and a feminist flair, all displayed in a crisply shot, entertaining indie package.

The tiny cast gets the most out of the story with the ladies being pragmatic and resourceful and Kevin being Kevin, sometimes funny and sometimes really annoying. I think that is the point of this goofy ghost story.

Director Pete Ohs and his screenwriting-cast deftly manage the transition from creepy to comic by slow degrees.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jan 31, 2023
: the best thing Ohs and his cast have accomplished is never undermining the seriousness of stalking while achieving a gently comedic tone before wrapping with a feel good ending you may not see coming.
