Jiu Jitsu Reviews
Is Nic Cage the greatest actor of all time? Hear me out. Who in film history has elevated more bad movies from unwatchable to watchable? Which Academy Award winner has stooped further into the underbelly of amateur filmmaking and pulled up movies to the light of your and my attention than one Nicolas Cage? Who has made more untalented Director's dreams come true? Just sayin's all. Check out my longer review: https://youtu.be/sJyzlQv_AjM?si=P5ZdmNj5SandPtmO
This was one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my entire life. I don't even know why Nicholas Cage or any other reputable actors accepted to being in such a stupid movie. The director must have been high most of the time. DO NOT WATCH, biggest waste of time and industry money spent on a movie ever.
Wow, this was bad. The alien was a cross between the Predator and robot from the Netflix version of Lost in Space. Bad story, bad dialogue, bad acting, bad action scenes. This was awful. Nicolas Cage couldn't save this thing.
This movie rips off Predator, Cowboys & Aliens(Not kidding), Hardcore Henry and a host of other movies. Its bad and not a good bad, or a bad good, just bad. Do not support this movie in any way, shape or form. I feel bad for watching it. I had hoped it would've gotten cringy good when Nicolas Cage shows up, but no, it didn't. Overall, the lead chick is pretty good, but that might be because I think she's hot. Everyone else is a plank of wood. Crab man tries, but, he can't do it all.
It is inconceivable that a good actor would be willing to participate in something so horrible. Nicolas Cage must be short of money or short of attention. A mix between Predator and Mortal Kombat, but with a low budget.
Like ‘Predator' but with martial arts. You have to give it credit for its inventiveness in setting, style and commitment to its comic book origins, but it's poorly acted, poorly written and it takes its outlandish premise far too seriously. The fight scenes are numerous, fast paced and entertaining, but use slow motion excessively. Cheap special effects, annoying first person camerawork and a silly plot makes this a weird production overall. Cage brightens things up briefly, but just adds to the oddness and doesn't make things much better.
Good fighting scenes! Loved it
I found this movie to be rather unengaging, lacking a compelling plot and filled with nonsensical situations that failed to capture my interest. The resolutions to the conflicts presented were simplistic and unsatisfying, further contributing to the disappointment. It felt like a disjointed collection of fight scenes, hastily patched together with occasional pauses to attempt to establish a flimsy storyline. Nicolas Cage's involvement in the film seemed minimal, with his presence seemingly geared more towards enhancing the promotional materials rather than delivering a substantial performance. Despite having no particular expectations beforehand, I remain disappointed with the overall experience.
The premise of the movie is interesting - but the execution fails. Lead actor has a single expression during the entire movie: confused, which is an apt description of what anyone watching this will feel.
100 minutes of jiu jitsu fights, all equal, but you'll miss that bore during those 10 minutes they stop to fight and act so bad you suspect they're doing it on purpose to win a Razzie. I believe they were drunk one night: "burp! what if we make a mashup of western and cooking recipes?" "naaah, let's mix football game with sewing!" "wait friends, let's mix 70s bruce lee movies with predator!" "WOW GREAT IDEA! but... what could be the plot?" "who cares of the plot, we put fight scenes during the whole movie, so spectators don't get we don't have any idea!"
I think this movie's biggest flaw was the incredible lack of plot! There was just nothing to it but one random battle scene after another, with a whole lot of NOTHINGNESS in between! I felt like I was in a video game, except I didn't have the controller in my hand to control my man. It was a very strange paradox, I can assure you.
Got to be one of the worst movies I have ever watched, think I even fell asleep at some point…
A budget of $25 Million, where did it all go? It wasn't on CGI or sound effects! I think I saw someone blink and get a WOOSH sound effect. Well at least it made $99K at the box office to date, someone got a great tax right off.
I just log in for the first time in my life to really write that this movie ,the producers who paid for it...must really think twice about doing movies ever again. Good point to pay Nicolas Cage because I get into the tramp and kind of watch it...i was seeing it in fast fwdjust to see if it was really so bad all the movie...and just until the end...it's ridiculous
This movie has extreme humor and sarcasm in many ways presented in every minute, I couldn't stop laughing for a single minute watching it. For me it's top grade.
I can't express enough the poor writing, acting, and fight scene choreography. The filmography was passable for a time-wasting B-movie. The character development was almost non-existent, but that was over-shadowed by the missing plot and palpable incredulity of any consistency.
Clearly never taking itself seriously, this one is fun and entertaining but integrity compels me to rate it two stars. Understandably, it should be evaluated in the context of a fantasy, but the plot is as empty as its ending. Nonetheless, Nick Cage completionist will still delight.
