Jupiter Ascending Reviews
Highly underrated movie…
Honestly, the main reason I even watched this was because it was a Wachowskis film. From an effects, scenery and costumes stand point I loved the film, but the story itself was sort of... well weak. Just didn't have that Wachowski magic. But it'll pass the time away.
Grand plot, okay script, a good ensemble cost (Channing Tatum, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Sean Bean - even before we get to Mila Kunis). Maybe just a bit too ambitious? Just too much going on with human ambition vs. love vs. backstabbing factions to pack in alongside so much sci-fi.
Jupiter Ascending is visually stunning but leaves you scratching your head.
Not sure why this rated so low. Worth a watch for anyone who has worked in government for the realistic the space bureaucracy alone LOL
One of the best Sci Fi movies I've ever seen. On a par with the best. Cast, script, production, action, humour all great! Eddie Redmayne was magnificent like Heath Ledger in Nolan's Batman trainwrecks. Have watched and rewatched quite a few times.
I don't know why this movie doesn't work. But it didn't for me.
This movie is terrible. Channing Tatum did not have to look like that. Mila Kunis did not acquit herself well. She just stands there a lot. Eddie Redmayne though, 10 out of 10 cracker. Gooooooo!!!!!
I love this movie! It is definitely a solid 4-4.5 out of 5. It can be a bit cheesy, but overall the movie has heart, action, sci-fi, and plenty of plot twists. I would definitely recommend!
It is sort of annoying. Eddie Redmayne looks like he doesn't want to be in it. The bad guys, or whoever is chasing the two main characters, must be the worst shots in movie history. What is the point of showing Vanessa Kirby in her underwear for long, that sort of seems unnecessary. The cast are good with many familiar faces, the special effects look flawless and it has lots of interesting. Not a movie I thought I would stop watching halfway through, it just doesn't seem to work.
Ok..Ok so among the great Sci-Fi films, BLADE RUNNER, 200: A space Odyssey, etc it isn't one I would rank among royalty. However, what it lacked in good transitions, it made up for with good characters. I loved the plot, the character development and the insidiousness of humanoid id and ego. The hybrids were the most "human" of the cast and I think that was profound and worth applauding the script writers for. It had just enough romance to keep my Hallmark heart a flutter and enough action to keep my Die Hard need for adrenaline fed. I especially have to highlight Mr. Eddie Redmayne! He made this whole movie for me. His ability to morph into the characters he plays is brilliant! I mean even his eyes change. Having watched this directly after "The Theory of Everything", I was pleasantly pleased with his ability to completely immerse himself in the craft. All in all I loved it and would watch it over and over.
I saw it again after almost a decade and I'm still a fan. It is an original script for a sci fi rom com, and special effects are good. May need subtitles for Channing's character.
Its not horrible, but the screenplay comes up short on what this could have been.
I’m baffled by all the 4 and 5 star reviews. This movie is garbage. They thought they could throw a few A-List celebrities in here and the movie would be great. The storyline is ridiculous. The acting is ridiculous. The only movie that is worse than this is Gods of Egypt.
I don't believe, what I see in comments on this movie! This is a love story ferry tale, and one of the best sci-fi movies all times, for me! This movie have everything, from great production and costume designs, to epic action sequences and story dynamics! This is the movie, that I can watch hundred times and never be bored, like I watched for instance, You've got mail. Btw, I love all Wachowskis movies, Cloud Atlas and Matrix little more then others, but this is certainly one of the top five movies of all times, for me!
Mila Kunis stinks like rotten tomatoes in this movie.
One of my favorite movies. Eddy Redmayne knocked it out of the park! I would have liked a prequel to establish order but it was easy enough to follow along. I think this movie should become a cult classic and I’d love to see this universe revisited. If only it had received the Dune treatment from the get go! Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum should be proud of this movie.
A wealth of missed potential, though visually interesting
If there was more of a focus on character development and interaction it would have been a much better movie . Why do they fall in love ? They just do, Don’t ask questions !! . The world building was cool but they tried to pack to much into a one film . Also channing tatum’s make up / look was ridiculous
altísima garchísima.
