Knives Out Reviews
This movie grew on me, on the first watch I probably would have given it 3/5 but after watching it again, I grew to enjoy it more.
Steller performances, misdirection and plot twists that make this movie an instant classic. 10/10
This movie was absolutely stellar, better than I had initially anticipated. The writing was superb and the cast was top notch. Was especially impressed with Daniel Craig & Ana de Armas's performances. Like a updated version of Clue, & I would definitely recommend this film to anyone.
A tightly edited and slick murder mystery with well written twists, complex characters and a detective that ties everything together elegantly. The seeds for the reveals are planted throughout the film, but they are quite hard to predict and quite suprise you. The family's dynamic with Ana's character is one that keeps adding to the story and is unvieled slowly and progressively. Chris Evans plays his character amazingly, and his is the most interesting one. Must watch for murder mystery fans.
Loved it! So good from beginning to end. Love the mansion.
It's got everything: a great cast, funny and poignant moments, and a whole lot of twists and turns.
Not enough words to emphasize how good this movie is. Chris Evans looks an awfully lot like @kevinmcgarvey, lord have mercy, I was barking at the screen! Any plot that involves a mystery surrounding a will is right up my alley. I think my favorite part was the shock on everyone's faces when discovering who the beneficiary was. Who could ever see that coming. I would love to feel that exact same way one day. Nothing makes me happier than utter shock on people's faces.
The film was a delightful blend of Agatha Christie and Wes Anderson.
It was okay, kept you sort of guessing but storytelling was pretentious at best. Didn't expect much from Johnson.
The plot was great and the characters fantastic but what thrilled me the most was the way it was all put together: cinematography, music, editing. It all fit perfectly to incite the right amount of thrill in the audience.
so much fun with stellar cast
What an excellent film by Rian Johnson; definitely feels like the film he was destined to make. Writing that is slick as hell, sublime performances (most notably Daniel Craig who brings his A-game in a wonderfully charismatic turn), superb editing and wonderfully atmospheric music - all tied together by masterful direction. Will probably be among the most fun you have at a theatre this year and fans of Agatha Christie and old murder mystery stories will have plenty to love here - a nostalgically entertaining time!
Clever movie, I was so confused why they were telling us what happened 30 minutes in, but it's what you don't see/know . Good story writing.
This movie was very exciting the entire time. Using many of Poe’s detective elements, like the fact it took place at a huge old manor, helped add tension to the whole thing. The cast is amazing and filled with many recognizable names and faces. It wasn't a traditional whodunit, but it gets the job done when it comes to mystery and thrill. Blanc was a great example of a super-smart detective, and the addition of many red herrings throughout were all perfectly included. The choice of revealing what happened to Harlan in the middle of the movie and adding to the mystery after that helped keep me interested. The reveal of the antagonist (won't say who) was honestly expected but was executed well. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of the mystery/ thriller genre.
it was fun. captain von trap, bond and captain America were very good
Amazing and witty movie that brings all of the different emotions together under one brilliantly crafted murder mystery. It is also a rare occasion when the sequel is also as amazing as the first movie. And the selection of actors is obviously also incredible. I do think Ana de Armas could have been switched out with another actor as her performance was rather disappointing as opposed to other movies of hers but Daniel Craig especially and the rest of the cast did an amazing job!
First five star I've ever given. Literally on the edge of my seat the entire movie. It truly is a great movie. I usually hate murder mystery and this one just does it for me!
One of the best original movies in recent years, and one of the best mystery movies of all time. The whole cast plays their role exceptionally well, especially Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas. The color theory and visuals are something special. This movie should be studied in film school.
One of those almost perfect movies like Pulp fiction, King's speech, and Snatched. A colorful cast of characters revolving around one plot point that makes the audience try to guess "who done it".
This movie is surprisingly great!! The movie keeps you on the edge of the seat and very engaging. 9/10 for this movie, one point being taken off because poor Daniel Craig seemed to struggle with the accent he had to put on for this movie.
