This was a fantastic movie. It’s a biopic about a musician who worked with Buddy Holly. The music was awesome. This movie is in the criterion collection. It was also about California.

Filme perfeito... Bem feito... Objetivo com a breve carreira do jovem Ritchie Valens! Com a parte mística de seus pesadelos para aprimorar o então porquê da tragédia!

This is the true story of Los Angeles teenager Ritchie Valens played by Lou Diamond Phillips in his feature debut directed by Luis Valdez The film is largely based on Valens’ tragically ironic lifelong fear of flying, which began when a friend was killed in a plane crash when Valens was a kid Phillips really sells it as Valens singing straight from his heart and his mixed up home life The music is so memorable and toe-tapping Plus this has a tremendous amount of Hispanic culture to boost The dynamic between Ritchie and Bob is believable enough as they are constantly fighting for each other's approval Sad to say once again the artist's life was cut so short, he had his whole life ahead of him with his music and ready to marry But the effect he had on not just the Latino music industry but all of America was something truly extraordinary This is a very good biopic after 35 years if not an entirely perfect one Yet it manages to distill its subject's creative energy -- and reflects his music's enduring appeal The script manages to make all the players likable flaws and such with a colorful time period as well as rocking tunes

One song can change everything even at 17 This is the true story of Los Angeles teenager Ritchie Valens played by Lou Diamond Phillips in his feature debut directed by Luis Valdez Ritchie was born a Mexico-Chicano into poverty His mom worked a dead end job and his brother offered a way out hoping to start fresh in Southern California He enrolls in high school while also looking after his siblings Ritchie then becomes an overnight rock 'n' roll success in 1958, thanks to a love ballad called "Donna" that he wrote for his girlfriend (Danielle von Zerneck) who is white and whose parents didn't want her to date a Latino boy He dreams of marrying her regardless He gets a visit from a record producer Bob Keane played by Joe Pantoliano But as his star rises, Ritchie has conflicts with his jealous half-brother Bob being drug-obsessed, drunk, and abusive Ritchie becomes haunted by a recurring nightmare of a plane crash just as he begins his first national tour alongside Buddy Holly The film is largely based on Valens' tragically ironic lifelong fear of flying, which began when a friend was killed in a plane crash when Valens was a kid Phillips really sells it as Valens singing straight from his heart and his mixed up home life The music is so memorable and toe-tapping Plus this has a tremendous amount of Hispanic culture to boost The dynamic between Ritchie and Bob is believable enough as they are constantly fighting for each other's approval Sad to say once again the artist's life was cut so short, he had his whole life ahead of him with his music and ready to marry But the effect he had on not just the Latino music industry but all of America was something truly extraordinary This is a very good biopic after 35 years if not an entirely perfect one Yet it manages to distill its subject's creative energy -- and reflects his music's enduring appeal The script manages to make all the players likable flaws and such with a colorful time period as well as rocking tunes This definitely deserved a spot in the National Film Registry US Library of Congress next to 'Selena' not just for its authentic ness but it's significance in cinema

Eternizadas as belas canções "La Bamba" e "Donna"...

Fantastic movie, and I just found out that it was made for 온라인카지노추천. The end still caught me off guard, even though everybody knows what happened to Ritchie Valens. The soundtrack is spot on. Their are little noticeable cameos from Brian Setzer and Marshall Crenshaw, though mostly only noticeable by true music fans. I suggest this to big music and biopic fans.

A great bio pic depicting the short , tragic career of 1950's rock and roll star Ritchie Valens. This film has more credibility than most music bio pics due to the real life on screen appearance of Ritchies actual mother. The family were very much involved during the making of this film which makes it even more heart wrenching. Great music , great performances and a real perspective into the tragic events that lead to Ritchies tragic death along side Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper. A real treat of a movie .

With compelling performances (particularly a perfectly cast Lou Diamond Phillips), a catchy soundtrack and an engaging narrative, it brings the story of short-lived rock icon Ritchie Valens to the big screen in a skillful, creative, sincere, respectful and masterful way that brings justice to its subject.

The tragic tale of Ritchie Valens (real name Ricardo Valenzula) is told in this heartfelt and classic biopic. A rags to riches tale that is lifted even higher by its electric, catchy and joyous soundtrack, La Bamba is an ode to the 50s further proving the fact that Valens was taken away to soon.

You know for a movie that's in the Library of Congress, nobody really talks about La Bamba all that much. How come? This was a really good biography about a singer who was tragically gone too soon with spot-on casting, classic music and a lot of heart. It's a decidedly unpretentious rags-to-riches biopic and even when with the ending being a foregone conclusion for anyone who knows even the vaguest thing ablut Richie Valens, it doesn't stop it from being any less shocking and poignant. It's not hard to suspect the end credits clip of the titular song was added so that audiences wouldn't be too depressed leaving the cinema. Regardless, La Bamba is a criminally underrated movie and if you love biographies, then you should definitely check this one out.
