Landscape with Invisible Hand Reviews
I wish more people could appreciate this amazing film 🎥 🙌
i love weird movies & this one was most definitely weird. clever social commentary, but as an entertainment piece is was just 'fine'.
I think lots of the reviews are kind of leaning to the aliens and the narrative of the story but what I think was interesting was the way the entire movie made it seem like the aliens were just on planet earth to, I don’t know settle and I thought the humans were all still on earth or in the atmosphere. Yet toward the end it was shown plenty of other possibilities for other movies even and in the very last scene it showed not the end but the very beginning of what could be a very good sequel to a deep story of the young Adam. I loved this movie def a must watch if you like sci-fi with some suspense and a wild cliffhanger.
A quirky take on alien occupation that provides thoughtful social commentary on how occupation can impact capitalist economies and class structure.
Asante Blackk plays a teenager in a future world where aliens invade the world and with their technology refers all jobs worthless so most of the people live in poverty. The premise has potential but the story was not very good and even worse ending 🍿🍿/5 on Prime
The finest film about disenfranchisement, colonialism and othering since Get Out. Conceptually ambitious and deeply unsettling.
I really enjoyed this movie. It shows a unique perspective of what happens when aliens come to earth and how the two species have to interact. Unlike most of the other movies we’ve seen on this topic, it’s not filled with big CGI battles or superheros swooping in. Instead you get to see how every day people’s live with all of this.
This movie had some very interesting concepts and some nice commentaries on human behaviour but that's about it. It's filled with so much exposition dialogue. This could have worked alot better as a mini-series. I could have given it a better score if at least it ended differently. There is really no payoff for having watched it until the end. It left me thinking i wasted my time and frustrated.
Those thinking it's slow, boring, or "too much things going on" are the subject of this movie.
One of the most unique and entertaining sci-fi social commentaries I've ever seen. After this and Thoroughbreds I cannot wait to see what Cory Finley does next.
This is a good movie if you view it as a sincere commentary (not satire) about colonialism, classism, and capitalism.
I really enjoyed this movie! Shocked it hadn't gotten more buzz, but a worthwhile watch considering how rare a thoughtful satire is these days...
In "Landscape With Invisible Hand," we witness a dystopian dance of humanity under the shadow of the Vuvv, a metaphor as rich and layered as any in classic literature or film. Like the monolith in Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey," the Vuvv symbolize an enigmatic, superior force that forever alters human destiny. But here, the alien Vuvv also mirror the double-edged sword of Advanced General Intelligence (AGI) or Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) - entities that could, paradoxically, uplift and undermine human civilization. The film, emerging from a 2016 book, is a Cassandra's prophecy about the AI age - it's like Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" or Orwell's "1984," only the oppressor isn't a human regime but an intelligence far beyond our own. The irony is palpable and profound. Despite the leaps in generative AI art, capturing the essence of the film's titular "Landscape With Invisible Hand" remains elusive. It's a stark reminder of the chasm between AI's algorithmic brilliance and the soulful depths of human creativity - a chasm that, for now, remains unbridged. As the characters in the film navigate their new world, they mirror our own journey in the age of AI - oscillating between awe and apprehension, benefit and exploitation. This cinematic journey compels us to ponder - in a world increasingly painted by the invisible hand of AI, what becomes of the human spirit? The film doesn't just entertain; it provokes, warning of a future where humanity might become spectators in a world dictated by intelligences of our own creation.
Two words describe this movie. Dull and Bad.
It was weird. A good kind of weird. I easily suspended my understanding of reality and believed this story could be real or possible. Compelling enough characters and the mom, was the best. Don't invest a lot, and do watch it
Funny love and life movie shows we are all the same no matter of color at times and how history and education of the past is key to our future loved it
I'm sure many will discredit this movie claiming they don't understand what it's about, but if you're "aware" you'll understand the message being conveied.
Highly underrated Clever historic a current commentary Sci-fi brilliance in this cgi age Aliens are friggin awesome This movie will become a cult classic.
Very different and original. A weird good movie thinking outside of the box. We laughed a lot and it was very cool. Worth watching unless you always want the same traditional formula of movie
While the film was intriguing, which made me continue watching it, it never quite hit the mark. It was a little bit too ambitious, but filled with a lot of great social commentary and sci-fi elements. I will say this is Tiffany Haddish is the best work so for that it's worth the watch.
