Leo Reviews
Too many cooks may spoil the broth but it turns out that three directors can, in fact, make a fun movie, at least if Leo is anything to go by....

Leo is a surprising, touching delight. Packed with witty original songs and threaded with a genuinely affecting narrative that speaks to kids and adults alike, the film earned the entirety of my attention.

The star’s childlike naïveté is well suited to this pre-teen world, where the tone meets kids on their own terms — and the life lessons are delivered with a refreshing lack of sentimentality.

"Leo" has a positive message and some first-rate Sandler voice work. For many viewers, that's probably enough. But honesty compels us to note that there's a much better movie in there somewhere.

This animated musical, called Leo, is way more heartwarming than I was expecting, but it is as silly as I thought it would be.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 27, 2023
“Leo” is a simple, yet effective, animated movie, whose gentle humor disguises a sweet parable about learning from one’s elders — even the scaly ones.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Dec 23, 2023
Leo models not only the importance of intergenerational friendships in a historically lonely time but also the importance of their mutuality.

It tells a fantastical tale about being young and growing old, and how similarly strange, frightening and joyous both things can be, for everybody.
| Original Score: 8/10 | Dec 13, 2023
There are laughs to have for all ages, especially parents who will often feel like the story is talking to them most.

In short, a comedy that both children and adults can enjoy. [Full review in Spanish]

poor story construction, bad visuals, and a crippling budget leave this as a mediocre Netflix animated flick. With a talented cast and Sandler leading the way, it’s hard not to feel disappointed.
| Original Score: 5/10 | Dec 2, 2023
A charming animated family flick that passionately celebrates and satirizes the next generation on their way to growing up.

I can confidently say that this is the best animated film featuring Adam Sandler yet. I know that bar was set pretty low beforehand and this still isn’t all that great, but having that title is worth something.
| Original Score: 6.5/10 | Dec 1, 2023
There's something worse than Adam Sandler trying to be funny -- it's Adam Sandler trying to be touching.
| Nov 29, 2023
This animated comedy makes up for its relatively standard design with colourful characters, snappy dialog, witty songs and an involving narrative.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Nov 28, 2023
The movie has a real heart to it. Leo goes to weird places that some of the more successful Pixar films do, even if it can't fully compete with their storytelling.

Sandler, who previously lent his voice to three chapters of the Hotel Transylvania franchise, has a real knack for voice acting... Sandler can really contort his loud rasp into mesmerizing voices.

Fun, warm, but meandering and too-long, Leo is an animated adventure with kindness and celebrating individuality on its mind 鈥 and is a great showcase for Sandler鈥檚 voice talents.
