Looking for Eric Reviews
First off, this is not a film entirely about football, in case people think it is. Its very much a Ken Loach film - a piece of British social commentary, showing the life of a working class man, someone who sees themselves very much as a 'down and out' type. Its a sobering watch I could describe as being about someone trying to keep their head above water, as is the case with most Ken Loach films. Its classed as a comedy and I suppose there are some comedy type moments in it but suffice to say its not what I'd regard a very amusing film for the most part, for obvious reasons (towards the very end it does get more chaotic and I couldn't help but smile a bit but its not a big 'laugh out loud' film mostly). The comedy is mainly present in the scenes showing Eric at ease, laidback with his mates at work and in his house, not with the adolescents he (seemingly) begrudgingly lives with. This is a quirky film but I liked the themes and I thought the main character, Eric Bishop, was played well by Steve Evets. There's even some poignant moments present and it does feel quite realistic, so I'd recommend it on that basis, yes.
This lighter version of Ken Loach is sweet and touching. A simple and funny idea that pays off.
Really cute, funny heart warming Brit flick and well worth a watch with a priceless climax!
Looking for Eric means to be a light-hearted comedy teaching you how to cope with adversities in life with wisdom. But I just don't get its humour.
I was enjoying the first half of this film immensely, but it trailed off in the end as I got a little bit bored when it got a bit too macho. The story about the gun held little interest for me. But I loved all the football clips, even if they were all of Manchester United!
O ultimo filme de Ken Loach mais recente é um sócio-drama edificante, divertido e divertido com um desempenho vencedor do jogador Eric Cantona.
The film starts off awfully slow, and Eric Cantona's contribution feels out of place (even though he's fairly competent), but a hilarious and terrific ending more than makes up for a weak start.
A gritty British comedy drama. Great film. A postman has a bit of trouble with his son who gets involved with the wrong people. He gets advice from his (imaginary) icon Eric Cantona. The best bit was at the end when they done over the crooks. True brits
"Look For Eric" hits on lots of levels, many topics being taken on in this one little drama. I really liked the theme that getting in good physical condition can turn one's life around. Fun movie
OK underholdning dog.
Gritty slice of life love story, well acted, with the bizarre addition of Eric Cantona as a (sometimes too) heavily accented advisor. More drama than comedy, but a good watch.
Eric Bishop turns his life around because of his discussions with Eric Cantona -- that part is fun, the part about dealing with some of the problems is fun, too, but there are some basic holes in the plot like -- why does he have two sons? And the story does drag in part. Still, some great goals to watch.
