Looking: The Movie Reviews
This move is a great ending to the show, and it was made by absolute icons and incredible writers and directors, and obviously the greatest cast imaginable
Incredible Series/Movie that was cut way too short.
Love it. Good bye guys.
Look, I love this series to death. It should never have been axed. I just feel that the movie tried to cover an entire seasons worth of content and it is a cram fest. I don't blame the production crew, they would have been trying to do their best under trying circumstances.
I'm still really sad that this series was not renewed by HBO for at least another season. The movie was deeply emotional but wasn't enough. The richly poignant stories felt clipped and unfinished. I wanted more. What an incredible cast and a stunningly atmospheric setting. I feel in love with everything about this show and miss it. I was slightly disappointed with the ending ... and while I am grateful that we got the movie to tie up the loose ends, I was left feeling like the stories were unfinished somehow. Still a remarkable show ... groundbreaking and utterly lovely. I will forever be #teamkevin ... love wins!
A lot of talky-talk, with a lot of eating Chinese food in between, and one great fuck scene toward the beginning. Other than that it's completely boring! I rate it at 20%.
Although Looking: The Movie acts as a good finishing chapter to the series, it is a bit lackluster and undertoned.
its a good portrayal but not sure what its intention is or focus - being a gay man in NYC Ive known shades of these guys. Iam always hesitant to watch a "gay themed" film because I think mostly its made for a "straight" audience and therefore really self conscious about not "offending" anyone which really serves to only water down the true experiences of gay guys in the US and Urban centers...and likewise present a really skewed version and one dimensional idea about being "Gay." I actually never watched the series - well I did for like 5 minutes and felt it really in-authentic and stiff as far as the acting - so I decided to watch the movie - frankly about 2 thirds of the way thru I got bored and watched Mr. Robot instead...The major cable networks need to relax and really let some gay guy director cut loose unlike those really horrible stains on the Gay community like Will and Grace (barf) and Queer as Folk (double wretched barf) you want a great series try Queer as folk the british original by far the best thing Ive ever seen about two guys and gay guys in general...
'looking' has been one of the few shows 2 come along that I really enjoyed and this movie version of the HBO show doesn't disappoint it was like catching up and visiting old friends u haven't seen in awhile.
I am shocked about how highly reviewed this "movie" is! EW gave it a "B" yes "B for boring I hope. It was a dull "must-finish-series-in-90-minutes" pointless finale. I really tried to enjoy this show, I really did, despite the clichés surrounding the gay community (and in SFO); but it just never took off. Slow paced "nothing happening episodes" charmless and stereotyped characters. Just like this "closure" which really had no script, point or direction.
I was hoping for better after the criticism of the series but this was just a waste of 90 minutes. Except for Raul Castillo the acting was still a wooden as ever - makes the soaps look good. Groff is fine in musicals but has such a limited range.
